A real sport

Lacrosse is one of those sports that you see in an American Pie movie and instantly ask what the heck is going on, but apparently it’s moderately popular in some parts of the world. It’s only natural, then, that the fly swatting-esque pastime should get its very own game – and that’s exactly what’s set to happen following the success of an Indiegogo campaign for Lacrosse 15.

Set to release on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 – courtesy of a stretch goal – the simulation promises to “revolutionise the gaming scene for lacrosse players”. There’ll be the usual roster of offline and online modes, including the light role-playing game mechanics that are all the rage in sports games these days.

Interestingly, the developer – Crosse Studios – is fronted by Carlo Sunseri, a former lacrosse player and coach turned game director. The team’s released a total of eight similar titles across iOS, Android, and various other platforms, so presumably this project is actually going to get finished – unlike other crowd funded campaigns currently hitting the headlines.

You can read a little more about the release through here. The game’s set to play ball early next year, which is sure to delight all six lacrosse fans around the globe.
