Who ever said that indie games need to have retro styled graphics? Not The Chinese Room, the developer behind upcoming PlayStation 4 indie Everybody's Gone to the Rapture. The Brighton-based studio has recently been slowly releasing a slew of brand new screenshots that show off the title's gorgeous use of Crytek's CryEngine.
The game itself follows six different characters from a small British town in Shropshire, as they navigate the end of times. As you can see in the shots below, the post-apocalyptic title looks stunningly realistic, and this style will hopefully provide an appropriately dour and depressing backdrop for the game's story.
Do you like the look of Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, or are you waiting on some gameplay? Ogle in wide-eyed anticipation in the comments section below.

Absolutely phenomenal.
That picture with the wheelchair has been around for a little while, but I couldn't help but include it. It looks so good!
This and no mans sky are the kind of games that would make me buy any system, it does look stupidly beautiful but that isn't what excites me most about this game. 2015 is going to be pretty ridiculous.
I want to see some gameplay, but holy hell that looks good.
Looks good but what's it about? Is there any video of actual game play? Until I get more details I'm afraid I can't be more than just curious about this game.
@voodoo341 It's a Chinese room game. It won't have any gameplay Just look at dear ester and to a lesser extent the second amnesia. In all seriousness they have said there will be puzzles and things (Actual gameplay 0_0) but I don't think there are any videos.
This is a download title right?
Those pics made me utter a word that I shall not repeat here, for fear of being banned otherwise. Utterly beautiful!
There is a viddy I believe, just shows a few glimpses of the setting, they might just be stills though
I remember seeing a short video just showing off the graphics. No gameplay. That's what I'm curious about though. Until I see some gameplay I won't say I'm gonna buy it. It does look gorgeous though
Blimey looks like an oil painting from the British gallery. Quite realistic. Reminds me of John constables paintings especially Hirwaun and the way he influenced clouding !!!
Looks good. Just curious to see what the gameplay is like.
Looks really nice. Love the wheelchair imagery it's creepy
Engines like Unreal and Crytek will enable indie developers who have the talent, and are willing to put in the time and effort, to make games that look AAA.
This looks beautiful all i can say is Amazing
At last a post apocalyptic wasteland that isn't drab mono colour with boring locations. The Last Of Us demonstrated how nature is more resilient than we give it credit for and how it does not always have to be a nuclear apocalypse. I'm hoping it's something like Day Of The Triffids mixed with The Last Of Us. That would be really cool.
