We could whisper a slew of sweet nothings about this trailer for PlayStation 4 sequel The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, but we don’t even need to bother – seriously, this game looks absolutely incredible. The trailer embedded below shows protagonist Geralt of Rivia trotting through idyllic landscapes on horseback – and fighting an outrageously well animated griffin with a longsword.
The footage was shown as part of developer CD Projekt Red’s pre-E3 press conference earlier today, and also included a release date: 24th February. The title had originally been set to deploy later this year, but the Polish developer pleaded with fans for a little more time. Judging by this short snippet, we reckon that the delay is going to pay off rather handsomely, don’t you?
If this video has left you eager to give the studio your cash, then you may like to learn about the title’s collector’s edition. This includes a hand-painted statue, a medallion, a steelbook case, a 200-page art book, and a great big box to keep everything in. And don’t worry if you don’t want to spend too much money, as the standard edition will come with a soundtrack, stickers, and map at no extra cost.
Honestly, we were yet to feel the pangs of E3 hype yet, but this has got everyone in the office standing on their feet. This looks absolutely amazing, and we can’t wait to see more over the coming days. Has this rocketed to the top of your wishlist? Wield your blade in the comments section below.

Dragon Age: Inquisition should last me nicely until the Witcher 3 hits next year, then. That trailer was fantastic.
@ShogunRok Uh-maze-ing.
Calendar marked. Now I just need to beat The Witcher 2.

This looks amazing. Like I said on the livestream page I hope that the other 2 get re released to play the whole trilogy.
Looks gooooooooooooooooooood
Hope that will live up to what it can be?. Have to preorder this now
Yes it is certainly gonna be something special....but for me (and i bet other old-school hardcores).....that RPG i'm waiting for is Project Beast!
Very cool to see Mr Tywin Lannister - Charles Dance himself in The Witcher 3! Very cool.
Smells like a blockbuster!! Delicious
See, now THIS is what I'm talkin about. This one gets Jaxon's Stamp of Approval, all day.
And it cant' come soon enough. I've played some good games on PS4 since launch, but none of them were games I was truly hyped for. But Witcher 3, this was my reason for buying the system in the first place (well, I would've bought it anyways but at least I had the pleasure of telling myself this was the game that justified it).
Wow. Looks awesome. Will it be hard for someone who hasn't played the other games to follow the plot?
@imtom2002 Considering the PS4's architecture, I doubt it would be the most difficult port in the world. I think it would be nice if they did it.
WOW!! Looks awesome! Love the music in the trailers too...
This is the game I have been waiting for. Was gutted when they delayed it, but the delay seems to only be benefitting the release. Roll on February!
Day one goes without saying. And yes Dragon Age will help tide me over.
This is one of the few series on 360 that I was jealous of. My PC was not really up to running it. It is huge news that it will be on PS4 this time around. I hope they port the earlier title to PS4 as well. Is it sooo my sort of game.
@ztpayne7 It's kind of its own contained story as far as I'm aware, but there will be returning characters and stuff. The developer has stressed that it'll all still make sense, though.
Goes to show how games could look on PS4 if we weren't getting so many cross-gen games and old ports...
I have just gone from a dedicated PS4 game (Infamous) to a cross-gen game on PS4 (Wolfenstein) and the graphical difference is incredible.
It's a shame more effort isn't being made to make cross-gen games look better than their last gen counterparts. Watch_Dogs is another obvious example...
KABLAM!
Will buy
Hopefully it doesn't get delayed again. I fully expect the game will be great but every time I really get excited about a game these devs love to pull the rug out from under me.
I can't wait. This looks like so much fun!
That just looks.....glorious I knew there was a good reason to spend so much on a giant gaming TV ...if it doesn't end up getting sliced down like Watch Dogs and remains that slick then I may have to get the Collectors edition. Ports of the 1st two games would be nice
