If you turn on your beloved PS4 today you'll be prompted to download and install firmware package 1.7.2 — the latest update for Sony's popular next-gen home console.
Owners of Sony's previous domestic system needn't feel left out, either — the PS3 is getting firmware update 4.60 very soon.

While neither update brings any new features, it's always nice to know your console is getting some behind-the-scenes technical love. Let us know if you've already updated your machine, and of course use the comments to flag up any issues you might have had with the process.

Ayup, the update is live and already installed on my PS4. Hope this fixes the share button as well. I often have the problem that no video is grabbed when I have pressed the button, even if I enter the "Upload video" section in the share-screen.
I have lost some good moments because of this.
Hopefully this'll fix the problem I've been having navigating the...XMB? Lately. I play XIV on a daily basis and sometimes my PS4 locks up.
Not really had any problems since the last update really + i wonder what 'year' it will be until we get MP...NO I AM NOT GOING TO SAY IT!(it gets boring saying it and it get boring reading other people bang on about it and it gets boring waiting for it to)
Still can't stick my music on the system, pretty sucky.
The ps3 update is available now. I'm literally downloading it now as we speak.
Will be interesting to see if this actually downloads and installs itself likes it's meant to. Hasn't happened once for me, same as with games I've bought on a laptop/phone which are meant to be at home waiting for me hours later.
PS3 said that it added Closed Captions to Bluray and DVD's along with style options..
Better late than never?
@rastamadeus Not sure how it works with the system updates (can't remember if mine have done auto or not in the past), but as far as games go at least, have you definitely gone on to press the download to PS4 option after making the purchase from your mobile device? I only ask because I know I made that mistake once! Oh, and making sure it's in standby, not outright turned off, I managed that one time too haha. Every other time stuff has been ready and waiting when I get back (:
How about one for the vita to download the rest of the PSP and PSOne titles?
@SteveButler2210 I've made both mistakes in the past with the first two PS+ updates but now it's literally always on stand by and I double check the download now bit. Just doesn't seem to work. When I get in I'll see if it's worked today but sadly I suspect not. Fingers crossed though.
EDIT: Home. Hasn't worked. Shock horror. Only takes a minute or two to download and install but isn't the point, it's another feature that just doesn't work.
@Kolma haha meanwhile the ps4 more than 7 months in is missing features that it's much older brother has got tut tut Sony
@rastamadeus Indeed. The auto-downloading and installing of updates never worked on my PS4, just the download itself, giving me a notification that the update is ready for installing when I turned my PS4 back on. The purchase-->download-->install-thingy via the mobile app works just fine for me. Did you connect your mobile app with your PS4? I think you'll have to do that in order for it to work.
@rastamadeus has worked for me since launch in every way. Works even on my Vita. Games updates etc.. You may want to look into further by checking your account, resetting or possibly tech support.
@Reverend_Skeeve Yeah I have it connected with the app. What you said (the notification of the download) is what I get. I'll be intrigued to see if the PS+ update goes well this time. Got in touch with Sony about how it wasn't working a few weeks ago and they told me to let them know if it works this time or not.
@FATHASUN Works fine on the Vita. I Googled the problem and a lot of people have the same issue. Seems it works fine on some PS4's and not on others. Read someone saying that his brothers didn't work but his did, his broke and the replacement didn't. Madness.
What I need is some blue tooth compatibility for my Turtle Beach PX4's. Sony said on their website that it was coming, but who knows when?
@rastamadeus its not supposed to install it. Just download it.
It still doesn't make coffee... (-_-)
is it real that some of the ps4s crash after this update?
