Even if you've never heard of Japanese virtual singing sensation Hatsune Miku, you'll have heard her without knowing it. Bringing even more catchy, rhythm action exclusively to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, she returns with her fellow digital idols in the sequel Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd.
Having reached worldwide fame, Hatsune Miku is doing pretty good for someone who isn't real. Created with a vocaloid program – software that allows users to add vocals to music – she returns with five of her friends to bring you over 40 catchy songs that you'll never get out of your head, including fan favourite The World is Mine.
By pressing buttons as they fly onto the screen, you'll play along in time to the music while your chosen singer performs in the background. With modes varying from Easy to Extreme – the latter of which is known to make grown men cry – there'll be a difficulty tier suitable for any gaming ability. If you just want to kick back and watch without a bombardment of button mashing, however, you'll be able to in theatre mode.
With over 100 costumes to dress up in for the fashion conscious, there will plenty to unlock this time around, too. This means that you're going to need a ton of diva points to buy them all with, and thankfully the new challenge items will have you covered. By placing special handicaps on yourself, you'll be able to gain even more points upon completion so that you can purchase all of that bling.
Due to arrive in the fall both digitally and physically, this sequel's shaping up to be a worthy successor to SEGA's previous audio outing. Are you a fan eagerly awaiting more button-mashing action? Leave your requests in the comments section below.

Dem twee tunes!
Haha I've got to say some friends got me hooked with Miku and the gang. They just went to the concert in L.A. Haha. I'm definetly looking forward to this! I've gotten awesome at the first one though extreme mode makes my hands hurt like heck haha
Getting it. The first was actually very fun, and helped me get over my slight-hatred of Vocaloid music and turning it into a "slight-like."
Let's face it: I can be made to like most anything I find annoying if a fun-enough game is made around it.
Now I just waiting on release date
Couldn't be doing with waiting for this to get localised - I need more Miku-chan! So ordered the Japanese copy. Should be here soon (hopefully) and only cost £30 including shipping so not like it's a massive hike on what it'll be here.
Thank goodness for the physical release!
Yay, more blue pigtails for me to tug on.
They should put other Vocaloids here like Gumi, IA, Gackpo and others.
@Superconsole Get hype.
