It's official, cross-buy is the absolute best thing ever conceived by humans. Need proof? Look no further than the incoming PlayStation 4 release of indie darling Hotline Miami. Publisher Devolver Digital is bringing the stylish twin-stick murder-'em-up to the shiny black box, and if you've already bought the PlayStation 3 version, you'll be able to download the new edition for free.
"We’re going to bring Hotline Miami to the PS4, and we’re going to keep it cross-buy," company executive Nigel Lowrie said in a statement to Destructoid. "We feel that if the user has already bought it for a PlayStation platform, they have the right to own it on a PlayStation Vita, on a PS4, [and] on a PS3. It’s different on PlayStation to the PC because they’re totally different environments.” Hear, hear!
There's no word on a release date just yet, but we're sure that more news will be forthcoming. Will you be getting your hands on some free indie goodness? Are you ready to take on the violent world of Hotline Miami for a second time? Let us know in the comments section below.

Love it when this happens. Will play again.
I paid a couple of quid for it on vita, its pretty alright but I'm not going to bother with the sequel, may be tempted to download it onto the ps4 though, it will feel a little like playing GTA way back when.
I have this on my Vita and on Steam. I'm going to play this game again on my PS4, that's how awesome it is!
@Swiket I tried playing with a mouse/keyboard on PC and it's actually harder (for me) than playing this with a console controller/Vita buttons. It's hard at first but once you get the hang of it you can pull off some sweet death combos on unsuspecting mafiosi. So gratifying!
@Swiket It actually works incredibly well. Like, better than you'd expect.
Love this game so much fun experimenting with all the masks.
I will download it again. Not sure it could be better than the vita version though. It's definitely the best of the 3 so far.
One of the best score run games in ages. Will gladly play through it again.
@get2sammyb yeah, I was surprised at how well the controller worked as well, becomes second nature after a half hour.
Would be nice if it has a separate trophy list but doubt it. Was my favourite game the year before last but it's yet another rerelease which just seems a little pointless.
@KillTheG1mp i agree. Played it on pc and had trouble with the control's. I think it will be better with dual sticks. Can't wait.
This is why cross buy is awesome
