We’ve been begging to play it for months, but a brand new rumour suggests that Yakuza 5 could actually be heading overseas. A translation of the gigantic PlayStation 3 exclusive – which dragon punched its native Japan all the way back in 2012 – has so far been ruled out by publisher SEGA, but EGM speculates that Atlus may actually be converting the open world brawler to English tongues.
A quote from the magazine’s ‘Rumour Mill’ column reads: “Don’t rule out Yakuza 5 coming to [North] America under the Atlus banner.” Seeing as the House of Sonic recently acquired the localisation specialists, this actually makes a lot of sense. However, it’s unclear whether the publication’s simply making assumptions, or if it’s privy to some insider information.
Regardless, we’ve got our fingers and feet crossed that this turns out to be true. Sony has acknowledged the pent-up demand for Kazuma Kiryu’s ongoing gangster plot in the past, so a translation has been on the cards for some time. Here’s hoping that we’ll be kicking it in the Club SEGA with Saejima and crew before long.

Atlus, I'll love you forever if you localize Valkyria Chronicles III.
Sega has been mismanaged straight to the ground during the console days, and now they're still doing a HUGE mistake by ignoring their Western audience. And that's just to name one thing.
