It’s kept us in the dark for what feels like a lifetime, but Ubisoft has pointed a big bright beam at Child of Light this evening, confirming that the throwback role-playing game will release on 30th April in Europe and North America on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. You’ll need to stump up £11.99/$14.99 in order to obtain the opportunity to play.
The game – which is being powered by the gorgeous UbiArt engine – has been openly inspired by the JRPGs of old, meaning that it’s much more Final Fantasy VI than Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. Bizarrely, it’s being developed by much of the team behind Far Cry 3, which represents an interesting change of pace.
The narrative itself centres on the story of Aurora, a 19th century girl who finds herself trapped in the mythical world of Lemuria. The adventure will find you recovering celestial bodies such as the sun, moon, and stars in order defeat a dark queen and reunite with your father. Sounds pretty whimsical, huh? Check out the trailer and let us know if you think that it looks magical in the comments section below.

I'm interested, but I would need to see a review before purchasing. Also, I'm potentially worried about length.
It does look visually pretty spot on but apart from that I'm not sure its for me.
The new trailer makes it look less like Puppeteer than the original trailers did, so that's a plus. And $15 is good for what looks like a $15 game. Rainbow Moon probably lasts about 60 hours at the same price point so there is hope. And as long as it lasts more than 2 hours it's a bargain compared to Metal Gear
I think this is my first game where I'm really torn between PS3 and Wii U. I'll have to keep an eye on the differences before I pick one. Unless we get it for free or heavily discounted w/ PS+, then I'll just take it on PSN.
Looks interesting. Will be keeping my eye on this for sure.
@rjejr it's funny, but extra length works against games for me, often now.
My backlog is so enormous that I often find short to medium games to be appealing, in terms of new acquisitions.
I still enjoy long games, but it's those shorter games that are great to throw inbetween a couple at a time, to break things up a bit.
>>; Aww was kind of hoping it'd also be for the vita too. But I'm still looking forward to this game since I heard about it awhile ago.
I'll probably pick this up for my PlayStation4.
Looks like my PS4 gonna be busy from March and onward
I'm definitely going to pick this game up on the PS3. I'm still VERY annoyed that Child of Light isn't being released on the PS Vita but Ubisoft definitely has indicated following AC III Liberation that they will continue to support the PS Vita and so maybe later on down the road Child of Light will get a PS Vita release. The game certainly looks good which is why I'm surprised it's only $14.99! I sure do hope it has solid game play and good length; especially considering it is being developed by the Far Cry 3 team.
This game looks great. PS4 buy for me.
