Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus

Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus may be struggling to attain much attention amid next generation fever, but the throwback platformer looks like it’s legitimately worth anticipating. Veteran developer Insomniac Games is done with the atypical adventures that have plagued the series of late, and is plumping up for a more traditional experience in this colourful spin-off.

All of the hallmarks of the franchise are present, with a gravitational twist. A new tether tool will allow you to create weightless beams, allowing you to navigate across chasms without the threat of dropping to your death. Fresh firearms include the Winteriser, which turns foes into snowmen, and the Nightmare Box, which summons villainous figures to fight on your side.

You can check out a big chunk of the title in action below, which also includes footage of Clank’s gameplay. Here you’ll engage in side-scrolling topsy-turvy platforming, trying to lead a spirit through a maze. It all looks rather tasty, and with plenty to sink your teeth into – Insomniac Games says that it's longer than Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty – this probably should be on your radar.
