Volume

Indie rockstar Mike Bithell has pointed the neon soaked spotlight at his latest project today, Volume. The game – which is described as a cross between Metal Gear Solid and Minecraft – sees you sloping through brightly coloured arenas, all while attempting to steal items. It’s been in development for around seven months, and will release (unexpectedly) next year.

Sadly, there’s no word on platforms just yet – but the PlayStation 4 and Vita seems possible. Earlier in the year, the Thomas Was Alone creator Tweeted about showing the project to Sony. “You’ll know the success of this meeting in a year, when you are / are not playing [the title] on your PS4,” he said. We’re guessing that the get-together went well.

The game will be playable at the Eurogamer Expo next month, as well at the GameCity festival in October. We must admit, the timing of the announcement – just before GamesCom – does make us wonder if Sony’s planning some kind of reveal at the big German convention. Then again, perhaps we’re just getting ahead of ourselves. Either way, make sure that this one's signed up, Shahid.
