Have faith

The hotly anticipated sequel to Mirror’s Edge is apparently in production at Swedish developer DICE. Ben Cousins, the general manager of ngmoco Sweden, revealed the tidbit in a Tweet posted earlier this afternoon. The executive stated: "It is general knowledge in the Stockholm dev scene that Mirror's Edge 2 is in production at DICE." Be still our beating hearts.

The comment was published in response to an OXM interview with EA Games' vice president Patrick Soderlund, in which the director noted that he wants the studio to make more than just Battlefield games. “The DICE guys are roughly 300 people in the Stockholm studio. Not all of them are working on Battlefield things, and that's intentional, because we don't want to become a Battlefield factory,” he said.

He added: “The minute we start saying 'you're going to make a Battlefield game for the rest of your life', they're going to go someplace else. So for them to make great Battlefield games there need to be other things for them to do as well. That's why we have people who move around quite a bit. And then obviously we have a boatload of people that just want to make Battlefield because they love it.”

Mirror’s Edge 2 has been rumoured for what feels like an eternity, but has yet to come to fruition. We’ve always been big believers in the parkour franchise, so we’re eager to see it get a second shot in the spotlight. Let's hope that the series re-emerges alongside the PlayStation 4 next year.
