Value added

Despite increasing pressure from the Nintendo 3DS and smartphones, Sony has decided not to drop the price of the PlayStation Vita this year. Speaking with Eurogamer.net, SCEUK managing director Fergal Gara explained that, while the company is considering a price-cut, it will not happen until next year.

“We always aim to establish price cuts,” he explained. “So the question is not so much if, but when. We won't have an across the board price down this Christmas. But what you will see us doing is work very hard with our retail partners to add value to the product to make it more compelling.”

Gara added that the exact timing of the price cut is “still under discussion”. We imagine executives will be waiting to see whether Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation and Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified have any impact before committing to anything.
