Locked out

Timed exclusivity is silly. We understand why it’s necessary in an age where legitimate third-party exclusives are heading the way of the dodo – but it’s infuriating when content is taken away from your platform of choice just because another company paid for it.

Take Resident Evil 6 – the game’s getting three extra modes on Xbox 360. They’ve probably already been developed for the PS3, but Microsoft’s money says you can’t play them. Not yet, anyway.

The additions include a Last Man Standing style versus mode, where killed players respawn as enemies. There’s also a Predator mode, which sees a group of players trying to stave off a single Ustanak (think Tyrant but much uglier), and a Siege mode, which challenges teams to protect and eliminate a single non-player character. That last one doesn’t sound too hot, does it?

The three modes will launch shortly after Resident Evil 6’s release on Xbox 360. Unsurprisingly, there's no word on when the content will hit PS3. Pssht...
