You'll have someone's eye out

Legendary Japanese game developer Keiji Inafune certainly gets about. Mere hours after apologising to attendees at Sony’s Tokyo Game Show press conference for Soul Sacrifice’s short delay, the former Capcom employee popped up at Tecmo Koei’s showcase to announce Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z.

The undead spin-off is being developed by Inafune, Team Ninja and North American outfit Spark Unlimited. The game puts you in control of Yaiba, who’s tasked with tracking down familiar Ninja Gaiden protagonist Ryu Hayabusa in a world infected by zombies.

“The collaboration I'm announcing today is almost like a dream come true," Inafune told an audience in Tokyo while sporting an appropriate Dawn of the Dead t-shirt.

"The reality, for a lot of creators, is that they can't make the games that they really want to make. There are boundaries and rules and people that have some say. I'm very happy that I'm here today being able to make the games that I really want to make."

According to the luminary, the game is targeting current generation consoles. Unfortunately, Inafune wouldn’t be drawn on a release window.
