Deja vu

You know what this industry always needed: another sci-fi themed first-person shooter. Of course, we’re being facetious, but that’s not stopped Sniper: Ghost Warrior developer City Interactive from announcing Alien Fear for the PlayStation Network.

The downloadable FPS will be powered by Unreal Engine 3, and will have an arcade flavour focusing on replayablity and intensive gun battles.

There’ll be co-op for social gamers, allowing you to work with friends to mow down as many alien life forms as possible.

Executive producer Andrei Dan Vasile believes the title will be the first ever “triple-A” downloadable release on consoles:

With a unique placement on the market, from over 900 games present on XBLA and PSN alone, Alien Fear is the only title to be developed as a full triple-A for download.

Based on Unreal 3 technology, we bring destructive environments, dynamic lighting, realistic impacts and so forth, which has never been done before for download alone.

Visually it certainly looks like City Interactive's pushing the limits of the platform, but with so many other alternative shooters available at retail, is this the type of experience you want from PSN?
