We think this screenshot largely encapsulates just why Binary Domain is so great.

The Yakuza Studio developed third-person shooter — which sees you matched against robots rather than the usual zombies or soldiers — shares the Yakuza franchise's flare for cinematic presentation, and matches it with the kind of crazy third-person action that only a Japanese developer could produce. It's the kind of shooter that's rare in this Western developer dominated industry, and that's why we can't wait to splash our cash on it.

But we understand that February is a busy time for new releases — there's the PlayStation Vita, Syndicate, The Darkness II, Twisted Metal — and that it might take more than words for us to convince you that Binary Domain's worth sticking on your wishlist. Well, SEGA's confirmed that there'll be a demo for the shooter in Japan on February 1st. It'll consist of two levels: one set in the Shibuya's Spain-zaka area in the lower part of Tokyo and one in the Shinjuku Station-like area of the upper city. It'll also feature voice commands if you're into that.

Binary Domain's all about the rad shooting and great character design though. Seriously, the first time you shoot a robot's legs off and watch him start crawling towards you with his hands is magical.
