And honestly, it feels a little bit calm. But perhaps that's because we're so caught up in the enthusiast bubble — we're sure someone, somewhere is currently having sleepless nights over Modern Warfare 3.
And if Michael Pachter's got anything to say on the matter, lots of people are having sleepless nights. He told IndustryGamers that he reckons the first-person shooter will scoop up sales in the region of $1.1 billion within six weeks of going on sale.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will likely be the years top-selling game, Pachter explained. If MW3 receives strong review scores (~85 or above on Metacritic), it should at least match predecessor Black Ops sales (over 25 million units).
[I] would bet that [Modern warfare 3 sales] are 10% higher over the same time frame, so $1.1 billion in the first six weeks, he added.
Pachter added that he reckons three-four million of potential owners will stump up for Activision's premium subscription service, Call Of Duty: Elite, too.
The big question is, will you be splashing out on Activision's latest?
