Fasten Your Seat-Belts Folks, GamesCom Kicks Off In Under A Month.

Please date PlayStation Vita for 2011. Please date PlayStation Vita for 2011.

We predict two fates for Sony's GamesCom press conference this year: jubilation or abject disappointment. All eyes are going to be on the date Sony gives PlayStation Vita in Europe and North America. Japan's pretty much confirmed for a 2011 release, but Sony's been very coy about other territories. Our gut says North America will get the device first, but Europe has been a very loyal market to Sony over these past few years. Wouldn't it be lovely if we all got PlayStation Vita this year? We can deal with a minor delays, but it's going to be so gutting if one territory is made to wait until 2012 to get their hands on Sony's new platform.

We suspect we'll all know by August 16th. That's the date of Sony's GamesCom press conference. The event kicks off at 7PM and is scheduled to run for an hour. Don't rule out new trailers for Resistance 3 and Uncharted 3, either.

As for more exciting predictions, we wouldn't be surprised if Sony used GamesCom to give the PS3 a pre-Christmas price-cut, as well as tease David Cage's latest project. Maybe DONTNOD will also show up and reveal their heavily rumoured sci-fi project too.

But it's that PlayStation Vita date we're waiting for. Please be 2011. Please.
