Changes In Sony's Internal Structure Are Unlikely To Mean Much To Folks Like Us.

We've only been away six days or so, but the entire hierarchy of SCE has changed. Sort of, anyway. Kaz Hirai has been promoted to Chairman of SCEI, active as of September 1st. Presumably that means he will sit at the head of a big table wearing an expensive suit like in the Yakuza games. More surprising is that Andrew House — former SCEE gaffer — will be taking Kaz's former role as Group CEO of SCEI. Executive Vice President of SCEE Jim Ryan will take House's job.

The shifts in hierarchy were prompted by the retirement of current Chairman Akira Sato on August 31st. PlayStation Father Ken Kutaragi has also departed as Honorary Chairman of SCEI, though he is staying on as a "senior technology advisor".
