Dead Island's Melee Combat Is Built Around A Stamina Mechanic, Meaning You Can't Just Hack & Slash.

That's fine though, because what Dead Island actually is looks pretty exciting anyway.

The eleven minute gameplay demo included after the jump shows off a bunch of the game's mechanics, and we're actually really liking what we see. Not only does the game look very visually appealing, but we're getting a streamlined RPG vibe from the action. You consult survivors to pick up quests, and then use the open-world to solve those quests however you see fit. The combat looks really cool too, requiring you to think about your actions rather than just hacking and slashing at the zombies.

It'd be nice if Techland could capture the sense of emotion present in Dead Island's trailers, but even if they can't, we think this is shaping up pretty nicely.
