Off to a strong start

Sony expected a slow start for Move, but it seems the controller has been more popular than anticipated, having surpassed the company's early sales targets.

Andrew House, the head of Sony Computer Entertainment in Europe, spoke to Bloomberg about the accessory's early reception:

[Move has had] very significant sales in the first month since launch, somewhere in the region of 1.5 million units for the new controller across just Europe. The initial sales response has been so far in excess of our initial plan that we’ll probably be looking at accelerating production.

1.5m Move controllers sold across the continent in under a month is a sizeable achievement for Sony, and with the PlayStation 3 expected to surpass its sales expectations too the Move could continue to sell well over the Christmas period. Sony's sensible response is to produce more, hopefully avoiding the stock shortages that could derail its trek into European homes.
