Can We Finally Consider Hitman 5 A Real Video Game?

IO might have tried their hand at some different titles - notably Kane & Lynch, though who could forget the surprisingly good Mini Ninjas? - but a new Hitman's always been on the cards. It sounds like Agent 47's voice actor, David Bateson, might finally have spilled the beans.

Speaking in an interview with TheGamingLiberty, Bateson mentioned the fifth game in the acclaimed series numerous occassions. In fact, the candid way the VO drops the bomb is likely to get him into trouble this weekend. But who cares? Hitman 5, yo!

“I have to plead the 5th Amendment on this one. I am under contract not to say anything. There have been delays. However, like I said earlier, if the artwork is anything to go by… brace yourself!

“In all the years of Hitman, I have been overwhelmingly gratified and humbled by the sheer dedication to the Hitman franchise that the fans have expressed.

“For all the kind things that have been said, I am truly thankful. That kind of dedication and appreciation of the game deserves repayment… with an even more gob smacking instalment in Hitman 5. I don’t envy IO Interactive for the pressure they must under to deliver.

“I am utterly convinced they will!”

Some marketing posters were outed earlier in the year, but the writing was really on the wall (quite literally) last year when an Official PlayStation Magazine journalist said he spied the words "Hitman 5" written on an IO Interactive white-board.

The game's apparently being lined up for Christmas 2011. We wouldn't be surprised if an announcement followed this leak. Either way, sounds like Hitman 5 is a serious reality.
