Dead Space: Ignition Will Hit The PSN This Fall.

THQ's planning one for Red Faction, and Capcoms got one planned for Dead Rising 2 (albeit an exclusive). Now Visceral Games has announced Dead Space: Ignition, a downloadable prequel for the upcoming Dead Space 2.

According to Dead Space franchise executive producer Steve Papoutsis, it's "the first of many exciting game extensions we have planned for the launch of Dead Space 2." Exciting.

So, exactly what is Dead Space: Ignition? Well that's the most unclear thing out of all this. From what we can interpret of from the press release, it's a comic-book adventure with hacking games thrown in. Apparently there will be four different endings, and apparently those endings will reward you with in-game goodies such as an exclusive suit.

Interestingly, Dead Space: Ignition's being co-developed by Visceral Games and Sumo Digital. You know, Sumo Digital, the guys that do the Outrun ports.

Oh and by the way, you know the Dead Space mystery we posted yesterday? Yeah, the special characters spelled out the word "Ignition". Told you it was something to do with this.

We hope Ignition's cheap. If it is, we're totally on board.
