Console Shortages Affected The Playstation 3's Performance In March's NPD Report.

The statement comes in response to the Playstation 3's NPD performance which saw Sony sell 313.9K Playstation 3 systems and dominate the hardware charts.

There appears to be no let up of console shortages though. Seybold declared:

“It’s no surprise, consumer demand remains incredibly high and PS3 supply will continue to be tight across our retail channels in the next few months."

Seybold was keen to point out the strong rise in the PS3's software fortunes.

“The huge appetite for PS3 content and gaming experiences has never been stronger as we continue to bring out great games like God of War III which was the #1 software sku in March with more than 1.1 million units sold in less than 3 weeks.”

A decent month for Sony then in which they dropped their biggest hitters. Sony will be concerned about the ongoing console shortages while demand is high however.
