Crytek Aim To Set The PS3's Graphical Bar With Crysis 2.

Those with a high-powered rig are able to squeeze unbelievable visuals out of the game. In fact - whisper it - if it weren't for Crysis' amazing visuals, no one would much care for the shooter.

So in making the move to consoles with Crysis 2, developers Crytek want to ensure they leave the likes of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and God Of War III in their dust, with an amazing showcase of the Playstation 3's hardware.

“With each generation of game titles on PS3, usually every 2 years, the games improve significantly in its quality, mostly showing off in graphics,” Michael Gluck, a lead PS3 programmer at Crytek told Play magazine.

“I think with Crysis 2 you will see the quality bar being set at a very high level that games will struggle to excel. We’re aiming to set a whole new benchmark with that game for all PS3 games.”

We're down with that Crytek. In fact, it's refreshing to hear a multiplatform developer seemingly interested in maximising the PS3's potential rather than simply reaching feature-parity with the somewhat restricted XBOX 360 hardware. For that Crytek, you earn kudos in our eyes, even if you don't quite touch the lofty heights you're looking to.
