Pachter Predicts A Small Price Cut Before The Holiday Season.

Such strategies don't really tie into their goal with profitability, but, it's going to get cheaper at some point in the future. Analayst Pachter stated the obvious regarding a price-cut, namely that Sony could lose $350 million of profits on a price cut of just $50 (accounting for 6-7 million systems sold after a reduction). Naturally a bigger price-cut could lose Sony double that tally.

Pachter predicts the system will drop to somewhere in the region of $350 with a packaged first-party title such as Killzone 2 in time for the holiday season. Will it be enough? Probably not, but hey, whoever doesn't pipe up the cash for a PS3 eventually is missing out on some really awesome games. We suppose it's their loss.
