Dead City is the second chapter in Stray, in which you descend into the game's dystopian setting. It takes place after finishing the previous chapter, Inside the Wall. This chapter introduces you to the darker side of the game, showing a forgotten city that's infested with deadly critters. As the chapter starts, you're injured and can only hobble around for a few seconds before blacking out. A cutscene plays, and when you wake up you'll be back to normal and a big door has opened. Walk through the door to the right. Through the other side, there's a dumpster to the right near the fence. Use that to get on the metal awning and over to the other side of the fence. Keep walking forward and veer left at the sign that flickers on. Down the steps are some barrels floating in water. Get across these and then over to the right through a gap in the chainlink.
Head left through a vent. In this area are some buckets you can pick up. Grab one, then jump up the pipes to find a spinning fan. Drop the bucket so it slides toward the fan and blocks it, letting you through.
Next, jump down to the left and knock over a couple of paint cans to allow you to jump further. Head up to the upper ledge and knock the paint can down so it smashes the glass below. Head down and through this new gap.
Go through the bead curtain and to the right under some boards. Hop in the bucket to go down, then head left. A robot will surprise you — press Triangle to interact. Next, head up to the yellow neon sign using the dumpster. Walk through the alley and watch the cutscene.
You're now being chased by Zurks, which are those funny little beasties. Hold R2 to run and avoid the Zurks. If too many of them latch onto you, you'll die. Shake them off with Circle. This is a linear path so just make it to the other end. Signs will guide you through the streets. Once the chase is over, go to your right up some stairs, then over roofs and platforms, following the neon signs. You'll find a board you can push over — do this and use it as a bridge to the other side. Hop through the window to the right and through to a yard that's fenced off.
Walk inside the barrel that's on its side. While in the barrel, walk it over to the right. Then use it as a platform to get over the fence and continue. After crossing the girder, go left and down through the scaffolding. After jumping to a board, you'll drop down a level. Head forward and cross over the neon sign. On the next scaffolding, jump up to another board and push it over. Cross it and head right, jumping across the roofs and balconies.
When you get inside the building, head to the right and back out again and continue climbing up. Back in the building, go immediately right through a door and into another room. Past some boxes on the left is a power unit. Pull this out to stop the fan from moving. Go through to the other side.
