Stupid Uk release dates! I’ve got my controller, headset and media remote being delivered tomorrow but have to wait a week for the console. Who thought that was a good idea.

I’m sure Covid has had some effect on availability but I’m also sure that come Xmas time these machines will suddenly and miraculously become available again. Let’s be realistic.

I got mines from BB but had to wait 2 days after launch cause BB didnt ship it til last minute.

I already reserved mine for January 2021 in Europe so I'm good to go! I am going to get my first generation PS5.

I was able to get mine disc version through PlayStation direct on Friday evening. Had to do some browser and HTML hackery on the website to get around the queue redirect and the out-of-stock popup while going through the add-to-cart and checkout processes.

what a fiasco my mind is spinning.
Why did they not make it easy for loyal playstation gamers on the playstation store to get a look in.

Yes, they took the money out. They didn’t specifically send me an email saying so, but sent me one saying: “Good news! We just wanted to let you know we are now starting to process your ore order and it will be dispatched the day before release by the delivery method below”.

Best of luck. I’m sure they would have let you and others know if there was an issue. It’s perhaps just an automated message for when it’s processed with the courier or they get around to taking your money.

welp I'm in a digital queue in curry's right now with over 100,000 people in it. Safe to say I won't be getting a console...lol

US should be counting their blessings, even if the consoles were not enough on the 12th, they at least got a chance to buy one, and more are on the way it seems.
The situation can actually be worse.
In Europe, in my country, on the 2 biggest stores websites (that also had a few consoles in September for Preorders) : one passed both PS5 consoles on their respective Playstation 5 web page, from Unavailable, that was up until the 18th, straight to Out of stock, a few hours before midnight 19 Nov.
And the other removed the console's page altogether, although it was there up until the 18th, with the stock situation as Unavailable.
And on multiple smaller store's sites the console is Out of stock.
So we weren't even given the chance to catch one, it was out of stock everywhere before 19th even began, and after.
The consoles they received went straight to fulfilling the preorders, and what was left was not put for sale, instead was reserved for the store's employees and whoever they knew and wanted to buy a PS5 (yeah, that's actually a thing, confirmed by many).
So there you go... for some it's the most f..ked up launch in PS history.

Even the scalpers sell them cheaper on Ebay, so thanks, but no thanks.

I kept refreshing amazon uk at midnight and only 3rd party scalpers had them for sale at £1000+ and games site froze.
I was hot on it at might night launch and had no chance i am in a cue now at game and it's massive so might have to give up as it looks like over an hour wait.

I just don't understand how people are able to get a console. The site (Walmart) breaks for the 10 minutes when the console becomes available, and by the time it stops breaking, the item is out of stock.

It's time to stop with online-only purchase of these consoles.

I mean, retailers are already doing Black Friday and taking COVID precautions. So, why should things be any different for in-store stock of PS5 and Xbox Series consoles?!

Scalpers will continue to be the primary source of these consoles until retailers stop making the internet the only way to get them.

The only positive thing out of this heart breaking launch is it gives me time to sort my s*** out ie.. upgrade the telle and a better stand and have everything in order ready deep into 2021 Q2orQ3 when they restock to get the best ps5 experience i can.

What's the point scalpers will get them all and it will be an issue until the pandemic is over and they can get them into shops, Sony isn't doing anything about it but could make up a system if they wanted to I'm sure. But until the world is out and about and can know c19 isn't as bad and shops open and stock is there physically online orders for demanding stuff will be scalped

So after going live at 9:00 PM, and getting 5 or 6 errors in adding the console to my cart, the entire stock apparently got sold in less than a minute, and I missed it.

I tried and failed to get one. Im hoping by my birthday in March things will be looking better.

I wonder how much money Sony is losing with all these PS5's sitting in scalpers garage instead of in the hands of gamers? Gamers would be spending money on the Playstation Store.

Here in the UK some independent stores I know of are getting in more stock in next 3 days.... so keep trying people

Over 50 people waited since 11pm yesterday outside of GameStop in the mall I work and they only had 2 😂 This makes me want to wait as long as possible to get one.

@Fenbops Yeah but his point is that they don't make money off console sales, they make it off software and subscriptions. If they sold a billion PS5s but no one bought any games or subbed to PS+, they'd still lose money. That said, I seriously doubt anywhere near the majority of consoles were sold to scalpers so it should only make a slight difference.

Amazon only had scalpers selling them for £850+1400 and the game site crashed it was a nightmare.

Day 2 on the game site they where making people wait over an hour to get a ps5 when they had stock so i waited ages in an online cue and gave up.

I'm debating over paying but I feel once I do it will be everywhere.

We have all seen this movie of a console before...a peak will occur leading up to 1/1/21 as Christmas-returns occur stock will see a bump. Then post Christmas-present-purchase will further cause stock to ascend and ebay scaplers will take hopefully a hard gut shot to their prices. Within the next 6 weeks I suspect we will be getting into a point of easily during "that given week (maybe not day)" finding a unit. In the meantime- at least we have the entertainment of jpg post to screw bots on ebay to stick to it scalpers.

Someone I know went into argos and was called back the next day to pick up a ps5, I told someone else this and he went in and got a console when he went into argos, so maybe shops are keeping them in store to stop online scalpers and selling them to people in person?? Until we get to that point, they're all going to the scalpers and its basically hopeless. After getting so excited for it for about a year, this whole experience has just been a kick in the teeth.

As far as people on Twitter go, I'm just burnt out on hearing that theyr'e back in stock somewhere, rushing there, doing everything right, and getting shut out again. After months of that, I'm just kinda done. When they're available to anyone who wants one under normal circumstances, I'll get mine then. I'm just throwing in the towel until then.

@Unlucky13 totally understand. What’s super irritating are the scalpers who are buying lots and lots of ps5s. On top of that you have to compete against bots. So frustrating. Hopefully after Christmas and the holiday rush there will be more and more soon.

@Aslanmagic I think that things will get better after the holidays, but not dramatically so, and its going to be gradual. Sadly, as long as the scaplers have the incentive to keep scooping up as many systems as they can, they're probably going to keep doing it.

My hope is that some time in January, we'll start to hear at least educated guesses as to when the first ones will be available in stores. Whether that's in the winter, or not until the summer, I'd at least like to have an idea.

The last few months it's been all about clicks with pushsqare, once I agree they would of been above this but not anymore!

Curry's had some in stock this morning but the online wait queue was something like 154000 strong.

Some of these internet shops are not helping they all did it better for preordering before the console came out.
Most left the console front and bundles open all the time and just updated if they had stock, so it helped by not hiding these away like most do now.
As when they change it goes crazy.
Additionally all the stores should have dropped stock together at the same time, like most did for the initial preorder, it helped some how as I managed to get PS5 disc version then.
Also as additional stock dripped through and the front pages left open the following weeks, gamers managed to obtain consoles.
Now we just a store, get ready on their own change the front pages and the bots and scalpers get a good heads up and rush to that one store.

To be fair, its a number of issues making them hard to get, not all in Sony's control, slow down of production & shipment due to Covid-19, the scalpers & their bots, covid-19 causing shop closures

Its been nearly 5 months and I am yet to see a PS5 in stock, this demand is unreal.

@Netret0120 there is a major CPU shortage that is contributing to a limited production run. the demand is high, but it is being dramatically exaggerated when you consider that available stock is likely 75% lower than it should be. until AMD sorts out it supply chain issues, ps5 will remain hard to find for the next 6-12 months. add to that the possibility of a high failure rate in the production of ps5's and most people will be waiting until 2022.

Wal Mart is by far the worst when it comes to online sales.

Stock showed up on either Thursday or Friday in 10 minute intervals for about an hour, and the second the Add to Cart button is available (after refreshing a few times to get it show) it's already out of stock. It also seems that the "online-only" for Wal Mart is on a store-by-store basis. All of the Wal-Marts in my area have a sign in store that says "use Walmart.com".

Best Buy seems to be the best as it makes everyone wait a small amount of time when clicking "Add to Cart" for another "Add to Cart" prompt to show up - that's how I was able to secure a Series X.

Smyths in UK had a drop this weekend, but play straight into the hands of bots; already seeing them on eBay. They should have made it click and collect, harder for the same scalper to turn up in person to collect 5.

Or Sony are not making enough consoles, funny how people were saying there were far more PS4 stock available at launch, only for this to be dismissed later, looks like a lot of consoles have been saved for the Chinese launch.

I'm just planning on getting one in 2022. I do not have the time nor the dedication to monitor multiple websites to finally get one. I'm just going to wait until they're just sitting on the self and I can just go to the store and pick one up.

noticed something (maybe?) particularly scummy this morning on Amazon - noticed that they had a restock (I already have a PS5 but have a few friends who are after one). By the time I looked at Amazon all the disc ones were gone, but there were still some digital versions left. Anyway, the following happened:

1: Digital edition was in stock @ RRP on Amazon
2: Digital Edition out of stock @RRP, but some now available on Marketplace
3: Digital Edition completely out of stock

I can only assume that at step 2, there were some scummy individuals buying stock up @RRP and instantly marking it up and selling on Marketplace. I mean we can't really expect any better at this point, it's just another example of them not providing the "valuable service" they claim to - they don't even bother leaving the website they bought PS5s on, in order to sell them on

this whole scenario is purely speculation but I reckon it's highly likely what actually happened due to the fact that PS5s were only available on marketplace for that slim 5 minutes or so after the Amazon stock dried up

A friend od mine just landed a Digital Edition (which is the one he wanted but hasn't been restocked in a while) here in Poland. Bundled with a year-long PS Plus subscription but that's something most users want anyway.

I finally landed one after months of searching. Ordered from ace.co.uk and it arrived this morning. Very happy now. Would never pay more than RRP

@deathaxe yeah, one thing I didn't mention is I got the charging station from Amazon - I managed to get hold of it for RRP but I did notice after the order went through, that suddenly all the RRP ones were gone - no surprise there, but all of a sudden there was a listing for £50 for a charging station. This soon went, and Amazon went back to just having the unbudging £70 charging stations that presumably nobody is willing to pay for.

Like I said with regards the consoles on marketplace though, it's hardly surprising, just the most annoying way I can imagine someone trying to make a quick buck. I don't like scalpers anyway but at least most of them put in slightly more effort than just buying and re-selling on the same website

Thank god there is not really any games that actually require a PS5 to play. I've tried several times but the hoarders keep slurping them up.

Smyths has stocks a few days ago, think Friday. I think all of them should drop the stocks at the same time, this might increase our chance. Dropping at 3 am and during the work hours don’t help. Still can’t get to buy one despite I tired since pre launch.

In Minnesota (US), I have not seen the PS5 system available in any store, but there are loads of PS5 games in every store that sells video games. Since there’s a decent number of games and very few people have a system, I’m not seeing a demand for all those games. They’re gathering dust. I can’t imagine the stores just want to sit around with all that stock, so I’m a bit surprised that PS5 game prices haven’t fallen sharply yet.

Even CEX are getting in on the scalping mentality at almost £800 for the disc version! How are they being allowed to do this?

Unless the stock situation improves markedly, I'm thinking of waiting for a few years until the 'slim' (or hopefully 'shorty' or WeightWatchers?) version appears. That's unless the PS4 games dry up which, given the current release schedules, seems highly unlikely.

In the US, I've got my PS4 and PS5 on launch day through PlayStation Direct. I still think that it has been mostly due to pure luck but the transactions with them went smoothly and nothing went wrong.

Hope you guys find one. Do not give in to the scalpers.

Just a heads-up to UK consumers, I was able to get one last week from eBuyer.com. They have a much better system, where you have to email them to say that you would like to reserve a place in line for future stock. Keep an eye out on their website for the next time they invite people to join their waiting list. It took them about a week to respond to my email requesting a place in line, but once they did it was stress free as I didn't have to compete with half the country and an army of bots to complete my purchase.

Heads up people Game currently have stock and bundles of PS5 consoles. Just got one for my nephew cued about 40 mins. Good luck guys.

The longer this goes, the longer I think its going to be before they're readily available. I used to think it would be by July, but now I'm thinking more that Autumn is a best case scenario.

The quicker SONY can get stock in stores and online that never sell out in 1 second the better because I get nervous if there is no stock available just incase my PS5 dies :-/ I play it everyday and can't live without it(sad(maybe) but true)

@Quintumply Probably too much to expect; but is it possible to get any information regarding other regions than UK or US? I believe there is quite a few readers on this site not living in named regions ... me included. And in my region, Scandinavia, there is not as much as a hint of news regarding the PS5 like, anywhere. It's a non existing product.

How about trying to get some info from Sony, what is actually going on? I know for example that there is a global problem with producing enough components which also affects the PC delivery to private business firms around the globe. And not just in the gaming industry.

The whole thing is a total shambles, both Sony and Microsoft have not made anywhere near enough stock available, sure you can blame component shortages, but at the end of the day they are both in control of when their consoles launched, why not delay until the supply chains were in place at full capacity.

Scalpers and bots are also an issue, but the initial stock shortages are still to blame for this, as if there was enough stock available what would the point of buying consoles to scalp people be in the first pace.

No rush from me to get one but if by some miracle i happen to get an opportunity to get one it will be from the PlayStation direct website.

Get the HotStock App - it was a life saver for me! It sucks that you never know when stock will pop, but at least getting a heads up is better than random searching.

Woo hoo! Got one on Amazon UK this morning. Interestingly it was listed under "Other sellers", but the seller was still Amazon. I don’t know if that’s standard practice or if it was their attempt to block the scalper bots, by listing it separately. If that's the case then it worked for me! Clicked straight through, ordered, done. Should be arriving tomorrow.

Completely gave up trying to buy PS5 in the Czech rep for standard price from a local shop. The PS5 launch is a farce and you guys from pushsquare should stress this ridicuouls state of things more instead of playing the usual role of fanboys

Wow, I got one today from Smyth's (Ireland). Tbh I hadn't been trying hard and thought I'd just wait until whenever, but got a tweet saying GS were dropping, joined the queue wile working this morning and then saw another tweet about Smyth's dropping, went onto their site and picked it up straight away... Pure blind, dumb, luck!

Looks very dodgy, and as we all know Sony will be losing money on he consoles at this price, but who knows.

One thing I do know is the whole thing five months or so in is a total shambles, and the newspaper articles about stock are just as bad, tipsters saying thousands of consoles on there way, when in reality it's probably very few, they say they have exact times, then say it could be any day at any time. Websites can't cope with the demand so they list stock at stupid times, but then state they have bot protection, yea right.

It's bad that after five months your easiest place to buy a PS5, without resorting to being chained to your P.C/Smartphone device, and having a lot of luck, is buying one off a scalper on E-bay.

Not of course the average price has shot down to around £600 but still £150 more than retail, so as it stands unless Sony actually get some serious stock to the U.K it will not get better anytime soon.

I guess I'll just stick with the PS4 this gen. Maybe I'll get the PS5 by next gen ... :-/

Random question given the topic, but does anyone else who owns multiple consoles buy certain games for one machine over another? I find myself buying a game on Switch or Xbox or PlayStation because it feels right for that system. Please tell me I'm not the only one!

I don’t understand the shortage of DualSense charging stations. I’ve been checking a handful of places a couple times per week since November. I’ve only seen them on Amazon and eBay marked up $$.

Funny my son's PS4 has started being weird and kinda glitchy which isn't too big a problem, I thought, because it is one of the OG models and it'd be nice to upgrade him to a Pro anyway.

So I pop online to get him one only to realize they basically don't exist now. Okay, I think, guess I'll just get a replacement PS4 then but oh wait those are gone too. Even drove to 3 different Walmarts, 2 Gamestops, Target, Conns Electronics, Kohls, and Big Lots just to be sure. No dice. Various employees telling me they've been out of stock for months.

I say all that to say I'm basically another schmuck looking for a PS5 now. Might as well if even the old gen is this hard to find. This semiconductor situation is crazy.

Edit: eh, nevermind. Went with a Series S instead. Seems like an affordable, available stopgap. This waiting by your mobile for alerts and queuing up for an extremely slim chance to throw money at Sony for a system with no games... nah I'm good.

Almost 6 months later and it's nowhere to be found on "official" stores, nor it was ever there other than for a few seconds once every 2 weeks. So it still baffles me how can it be the best selling console ever while you cannot really buy it.

Well on the subject of PS5 stock I have seen one of my Japanese friends obtain one and a guy I know living in the US appears to have also managed to get one so stock is appearing from time to time.

'Which shops have PS5 available for May 2021?'

ANSWER = NOWHERE

Over on NowInStock the data shows these are selling out within 30min of stock being posted. Most people don't even know when stock will be posted. A lot of the time, stock sells out in 10 min.

Every time I look at this page it just says out of stock. I’d be lucky to see this page say it’s in stock and still have enough time to go and buy it.

What would be interesting to see if you could pull your data to see when the common date/time for new stock is. Should we be looking at certain stores on certain days at certain times?

After some data crawling, here are some predictions on when things might be in stock in the US at least, and in PST. No guarantees, just the current consistencies.

First week of the month, check Walmart on Thursdays around 12pm

2nd week:
Tuesday - Playstation Direct, 1pm
Wednesday - Gamestop, 10:30am

• playstation Direct, 1pm
  Thursday - Best Buy - 12:40pm
  Friday - Best Buy, 12:40pm

3rd week:
Thursday - Walmart, 12pm

4th week:
Wednesday - Target, 4am

• Gamestop, 10:30am
  Thursday - Target, 4am
• Best Buy, 12:40pm
  Friday - Best Buy, 12:40am

Again, these are in stock for 10 to 30 minutes.
Gamestop is all bundles.
Playstation Direct is most consistent.
PD and Best Buy are fairly concise with their stock (no in and out of stock every minute).
Walmart is the worst in and out of stock (the worst being on 3/18 in/out 23 times)
Walmart also sells out the fastest, sometimes within a few minutes. This could be bots buying them. Then possibly being canceled leading to restocks, repeat.
Gamestop also sells out very fast.

Shopto.net for the UK had console bundles yesterday day time.

What’s funny is that Gamestop has them in stock right now. Digital sold out first. The disc bundle is $730, and still in stock for at least 30 min. But it comes with baseball, which is my reason for skipping it. Sorry, I’m not paying extra for something I don’t need.

Now they are out. Took over an hour. I guess people weren’t throwing themselves at the chance to pay over $700 to play baseball.

The UK was crazy today, tried to get one for a friend, I have disc one.
I was bang on time at Amazon the split second it became available.
Would the dam thing go in my basket no, constant tapping for 15 minutes. Then out of stock.
Sometimes I wonder if there are really any in stock or about 10 are available.
God knows who manages to buy one, especially as they said about 8 thousand were available today at Amazon UK.
Anyway poor friend will have to wait.

There was a time not so long ago when I assumed Sony would hold back a ton of stock so retailers would have some to sell alongside 1st party next-gen exclusive Ratchet & Clank on it's release day, and while I do think retailers will sit on their weekly allotment of a dozen for that week to release that day, a dozen isn't going to do it.

I'll keep my eyes open - following a couple of people on Twitter - but if I don't have 1 by the end of June I'll give up searching until Christmas. And if I don't get1this Christmas then next Christmas.

I do have a pre-order in for the extra expensive red controller, but it looks like I'll just be using that for Xbox Gamepass on PC. Why it can work on PC and Switch but not on a PS4 is beyond me.🤷

I'm in the US and ps5 continues to be elusive. I'd believe the scalpers with the bots have perfected the art of snatching up all the units. By the time I am able to buy one, I'll probably have a choice at buying the better 2nd generation version or a bundled deal during Xmas. I'm very interested in getting one but definitely not going to lose sleep or overpay a scalper. I've got over 300 games on my Ps4 pro.

I recieved one of those PlayStation emails with a limited window to potentially buy a PS5...Weirldy thought I am happy mostly playing games on the Switch Lite these days, so I didn't bother. I'll probably get one, when you can just go out and buy one.

I was in a shop and saw some bloke walking around a with a brand new PS5. I said to him he was lucky to get his hands on one of them and he started cursing his kids with all sorts of expletives. He must have been through one hell of an ordeal to get it.

My local Walmart, and I assume all Walmarts, have a sign that says to check walmart.com as they don't stock the PS5 or Xbox Series in stores. Why are they still doing this? Horse crap!

@jorel262 it’s a scam to entice people to pay to join their walmart plus service & become a member . when i became a walmart plus member it was easy to order a ps5 when they re-stocked for black friday . no freezes or immediate “out of stock” a second later BS . plus members get a head start on things before theyre available to public customers .

Unsolicited advice:
Walmart+ is probably your best bet to get one, close to msrp. When Walmart has a restock, just get a one month sub for $15. It'll give you an hour access, to buy ps5, before the general public. Last Monday, they must've had ps5's available for members for an hour or so.

GAME already sold out. Currys have a few £700 to £800 overpriced bundles with 1TB SSDs & headphones going and a DOA edition.

@IAM1982 My guess is that it will keep going until Sony is on the verge of releasing the PS5 Slim/Pro (which is what I'm waiting for), which will then have the same scarcity issues.

Finally was able to order one through the Walmart restock on the 14th, but my order status hasn't changed from the day I made the order. Luckily it hasn't been cancelled, nor has the arrival date changed (March 31).

@TheNomadLad I would have been happy to pay Sony an extra 100 big ones just to avoid the stress of not knowing when I could get hold of one, but the mark-up for a scalped console is so ridiculous. Then you are left trusting someone who is unscrupulous by nature to actually send you the thing and in good condition.

I finally ordered one today via PlayStation direct. I signed up a few months ago and focussed on other things in my life aside from gaming and had the attitude that I will get one when I get one.

Finally had a few drops in the UK this week all gone now. What gets me is the main shops that put the console in £750 bundles with the only way to get one and not selling it solo.
You put solo in your basket and when you try to but it says out of stock. Put a big bundle in and like magic the console is in stock with the bundle.
The cost of living in the UK and extra taxes is bad enough without these greedy horrible shops making you buy expensive bundles.

So so glad to see the Curry’s UK PS5 disc bundles costing £750 and £799 still in stock and the general public not buying them. They been there for about 4 days, nasty horrible shop.

@Dezzy70 Can't understand the logic - people want the base console (disc edition - doesn't seem to be the mad rush for the DOE).

Currys (and GameCollection) stocking bundles for £800 and they sit there for ages. The PS5 is expensive enough, more so in the current climate, at £450 and some people can't stretch to £800.
Personally, I think I'm just going to buy a Switch in the meantime and keep an eye out for 1) stock becoming available and 2) a decent reason to go next gen as at the moment, the PS5 'exclusives' just aren't of interest.

I have a Switch OLED get used a lot.
Especially at the moment family and friends Easter time a-bit of Mario Kart couch competition and Kirby seems to be going down well.
It’s a nice little console and does a good job all round.
HFW is probably the PS5 show case game at the minute, if you into that sort of game it is very good.
You should try Argos or Smyths toys they normally sell PS5 no bundles but you have to be so quick.

@Dezzy70 Yeah, GAME had quite a few recently but the console only sold out in about half an hour. Bundles, including extra storage, games and/or extra controllers were selling for £600 and upwards - they hung around for a while before people (begrudgingly, probably) bought them.

Sadly I’ve given up trying to get a PS5 after two years and am still happy with my PS4. Horizon Forbidden West played great on it. Hopefully will find one this year!

I don't think it's hard to get a ps5 in the UK. I bought mine in summer and I spent only a few hours to seal a deal. I ordered one last week, my friend is just too excited.

By the way, I saw PS5 DualSense Charging Station at Lidl(UK) for £12. Ps4 charger was £10 I think.

Only reason I mentioned to everyone because in my local Asda/Currys even Argos didn't have official, only other brands(for the cost is around £20.). And I don't think they are better than this.

I have a few tech stuff from Lidl and Aldi. Mainly stuff are which I don't care about brand. Quality is good.
I wouldn't buy PC, laptop, or specific camera from there. Or anything really costly. But I am fine with accessories. And never regret them.

Was able to get a PS5 Digital (HFW bundle) from Gamestop (US) last week. When I clicked into the product listing, the 'Add to Cart' button was gone, and was replaced with a 'Not Available' button. But when I clicked the 'Not Available' button, it let me through to the checkout page. lol. A couple days later, it shipped.

Yup, easy to get in the UK.
Smyth's, Argos, game, you name it, they have it, and they've been available for a very long time.
My Smyth's have the special Spiderman 2 bundle, they had the horizon bundle for ages, and they got all the slit sided consoles in on day one and have them available off the shelf.
