@nessisonett I remember thinking that was cool. Growing up in the zeroes does that with your brain.

Ugliest console - WTF is going on here?

Handsomiest console - Japanese/European/Australian SNES. So much better than the North American model.

@kyleforrester87 That original model though... Untitled

Always had a soft spot for the Wondermega (megadrive + mega CD produced by JVC): it looks like they would picture a sci-fi console in a 80s anime.

Never belligerent but always uncompromising.

@kyleforrester87 @RubyCarbuncle That was my point, the first model is hideous! Why have they got the setup instructions on the console? 🤣

The original PS3 , most definitely. To this day it still looks very classy and high-tech & i'm glad they wen't back to making some creative , futuristic-looking consoles again with the PS5 ; it ain't classy-looking but it still looks surreal & creative.

1. PS3
2. PS5
3. Original XBOX

Urgh, why did I Google that?! Looks like a bunch of Love Island rejects threw up on it.

I really, really like the design on the outside of the Zelda 25th Anniversary 3DS.

In terms of standard devices...

New Nintendo 3DS XL is a sexy beast in general.

Untitled

On the home console front, I've always really liked the aesthetics of the top-loader NES. VERY clean and basic.

Untitled

And, of course, the GameCube's design is a lot of fun as well.

Least favorites are probably the Virtual Boy, pretty much all of the Atari consoles, and the Playstation 5 (sorry, it really looks like someone sat it next to a heater and warped the plastic on it).

Also, OG Gameboy. The curvature of the bottom of the device always bugged me, for some reason.

Untitled

edit: Oh, and in a surprising turn of events, I've actually really grown to like the design of the Xbox Series X. The 'black monolith' look is very easy on the eyes.

I love the GameCube

It's so slick looking but distinctly has that Nintendo charm

@nessisonett @RogerRoger I loved it when the Tribal GBA SP made an appearance in the film Kidulthood 😂

Ahhh the spice melange! 🔵👀🔵

Closest I got to a spice orange GameCube is my joy con which come in orange and GameCube purple!

I honestly reckon our preference for console designs is tied to our experiences with the consoles. I love most console designs to be honest, SNES, PS1, GameCube etc. I should probably give a shout out to the original slab style 2DS which I don't think has been mentioned. I loved the design of that thing, it was like a stretched GBA!

Untitled

I also really loved the look of the Wii Mini despite its gimped innards. It looked so retro, a bit like a Mega Drive 2. Couldn't justify buying one at the time though but I'd love to pick one up cheaply now.

Special mention goes to @nessisonett, for absolutely not understanding this thread initially! 😆

That version of the Wii U looks terrific. However, I will never be able to understand why the sticks were above the face buttons. Felt alien to play that thing.

Eat the path.
