Which console is the best I'm unsure which is my favourite. I always look back on every single one fondly. Where as with every other generation I have a clear favourite 2600, Nes, Amiga, Mega drive, ps1, 360, ps4. I cant choose between the 4 consoles of the 6th generation. So what's the best GameCube, Xbox, PS2 or Dreamcast?

Tbh, when I look back at those times I always remember my GameCube the most. I really loved my GameCube, so that's probably my favorite and the one I held the fondest memories for.
Since my all time favorite is still the Nintendo NES, I'm going to go through this by generation.
My first was the Atari 2600
Next was Nintendo NES
Sega Genesis for the 16 bit generation
Nintendo 64 for the next generation (would have been Sega Dreamcast if it would've lasted)
Nintendo Gamecube for the next
Sony Playstation 3 for this past generation
Sony Playstation 4 for this generation
They were all good IMO. The sixth Gen was such a great gen. The only thing bad was that the Dreamcast didn't last as long as the others. But in all each system had great exclusive with the Dreamcast having the likes of Shenmue, Jet Set Radio, the awesome NFL 2K the Xbox having KotOR, Jade Empire, Crimson Skies, the PS2 having Summoner, Metal Gear and the the Gamecube with Luigi's Mansion, Mario Kart Double Dash. Plus the multiplatform games were all great no matter what system you played it on like Soul Caliber II for example. It's hard for me to pick one favorite but that's why I have them all.

PS2 but that's only because the Dreamcast had to be cut short. I truly believe that console was on track to be one of the best all-time. Even with the short shelf life, it was better than either Gamecube or Xbox.
The PS2 had a lot of great games, but my favorite sixth gen console was always the Gamecube. Melee, Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, and the Pikmin games were some of my favorites at the time. I think all of the sixth gen consoles had a lot to offer, though. Great time to be a gamer.
During the actual generation I only owned the PS2 and Gamecube due to financial reasons. Also I was pretty mad at Sega like alot of people for the Saturn fiasco so I wasn't eager to sink the money in a new Sega system just yet. As for Xbox my friend had one so I usually just played the games he had like Halo, PGR and Crimson Skies to name a few when I hung out at his place.
It wasn't till a few months ago That I finally got an Xbox of my own and a few years ago that I got a Dreamcast. So now I can say I like each of them equally. It's hard to say which ones my favorite.

Its too hard to decide, the Xbox had Jade Empire, project Gotham racing and Halo the ps2 had Final Fantasy 10, Pro Evo and MGS3 the GameCube had Skies of Arcadia, Double Dash and Mario sunshine, the Dreamcast had Shenmue, Soul Calibur and Jet Set Radio. For me I have decided that the Dreamcast is 4th, Ps2 is 3rd, and xbox and GameCube are joint 1st. KOTOR, Windwaker,Metroid Prime and the stunning Halo 2 simlply blew everything else at the time away.

I am not saying that just because this is a PS site. I believe a console is only as good as the support and games it has. Regardless of how powerful or its capabilities, its meaningless if it doesn't have support or games and the PS2 had these in abundance. It outlasted all the other consoles and was still being sold well into the PS3's life.
I must admit, that I actually preferred the Xbox myself though

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Easily the PS2 for me, loved it. Before that I had a PS1 and gameboy etc, but I really got into gaming with the PS2. The amount of games! (Splitscreen was awesome) Star Wars Battlefront 2 was my favourite though, the amount of hours I could play that for, and Timesplitters was awesome.
The PlayStation 2.
I gave up on Nintendo after the Super Nintendo back than Nintendo was looked at as a system for a child, I was 24 when the GameCube hit the streets. I still think Microsoft should not be in the video game console industry. As much as I like Sega the first time I laid eyes on the Dreamcast game pad when a friend invited me a week or two after launch over to the apartment of a manager of the Jefferson Valley Mall Electronic Boutique I started laughing while he was playing Sonic Adventure I kept looking over at controller, the things that made laugh was the cord comes out at you, the hole in the center (for the VMU) and the two large slots where the cord should be, to me it looked like he was holding it backwards. So to put it anther way I was not impressed with the Sega Dreamcast based off the hardware stand point alone, also like many I was waiting to see the PlayStation 2. I was so excited to get a PS2 I bought Midnight Club: Street Racing a day before the system was released.
GCN because it had SSBM (possibly my favourite game of all time), it also had a stellar library of hidden gems but so did the PS2 so most because Melee.
If I were to just recommend someone a system from this gen, not knowing anything about their personal tastes in games, I'd go with the PS2 hands down. The amount of quality games on that system in every genre is utterly insane. It also helps that the system got games for a very, very long time (10+ years).
I love my GCN for it's Nintendo games, and I love my XBOX for Halo and a few others, but they just can't compete with the insane library of the PS2.
Also, the Dreamcast, although ahead of the time, simply doesn't have as many quality games that have aged well, compared to the other systems.

I loved the Dreamcast VMU and how you could play mini games on it and connect two together for some games and play with more than one. Also some games used the screen as you played the main game. (Ahead of the innovative Nintendo DS and if you think about it similar idea just in a smaller scale)

The fact that I still play my PS2 and have retained quite a collection, makes me suggest that. XBOX OG wasn't as intuitive to me as a child, and the Dreamcast was fun, but ahead of its time. But PS2 was the first "modern" console (at the time) that brought my family together, surrounded by Kingdom Hearts & Buzz.
Dreamcast by a country mile. All but two of my favourite games from that generation are on Sega's last console, and all in my top twenty games of all time. The other two are Wind Waker (the best Zelda) and Metroid Prime which to this day is just a stunning game and, for me, in the top three games of the 21st century so far. That Dreamcast had so much quality in such a short time while the other three had a handful of genuine must have games says it all.
That generation I only had a Gamecube and Dreamcast but at no point did I honestly feel I was missing out on what Sony and Microsoft were offering. Yeah, there were a collection of good third party titles which I played when at friends house but nothing made me think "I need one of these machines." Between the PS2 and Xbox there were just three games I thought I was missing out on. In later years I played them but MGS2 was just clumbersome and boring, Halo was a genuine piece of crap and then there was Ico. Yes, it's a really good game but nowhere near the special game it's made out to be. One must have for me between the two consoles? I was more than happy staying with Sega and Nintendo for one last time.
The GameCube had some great games like Super Smash Bros. Melee and F-Zero GX just to name a couple, but when you weigh up the sheer number of brilliant titles that the PS2 had, I don't think there's a contest - at least not for me. I could sit here and rattle off every game I thoroughly enjoyed on PS2, but it'd take so long that I simply cannot be arsed.
During that era I went with Dreamcast and Gamecube and they will always have a special place in my heart. But I wouldn't say any of them were weak. They all had fantastic features and great games to play.
