Topic: How to get ps2 working on hdmi monitor

I am looking to get my PS2 slimline working on a hdmi monitor (Dell UltraSharp). I have tried a PS2 to HDMI adapter, and no display shows (even after trying to change the PS2 display settings blind). I have now tried a RCA to HDMI adapter, and it registers the display but with a blue screen saying 'no signal'.

I have tried the same wires and RCA to HDMI adapter on a PS1, and this shows fine.

Is there a reason why the PS2 wont be displaying?
Is there an easy fix for this with the adapters I have?
Has anyone had similar problems?

Thanks

@Watts I don't know how helpful this is but I tried playing GameCube games on a 4K monitor using one of those Wii2HDMI things. Apart from the adapter being a piece of trash anyway, it would only show Wii games and I'd get a signal error when I tried GameCube games.

It turned out the 4K monitor didn't support a low enough resolution to play the GameCube games (no upscaler in the adapter) and they were PAL games so I don't think they had the 480p stuff that the NTSC ones had. Anyway, maybe your monitor doesn't support it. Unfortunately I never could get it to work

See ya!

@Watts
I only use PS3 component cable for both my PS2 Slim Japan and PS2 Fat USA on HD TV.
And the result was pretty good.

@ralphdibny Yes it sounds like it must be the monitor not supporting the low res. I don't know if theres a similar cheap adapter which could get it to work on the same monitor.

Ideally I would like it to work on that monitor for ease in the office (and not having to buy any new displays).

@Anti-Matter have you got a link to which cable this would be please for me to investigate more. Would it still need to be combined with an adapter of sorts?

@Watts
No need adapter.
Just find PS3 component cable with 5 plugs (RGB for picture + RW for audio), plug in on your PS2 to your HD TV and voila !
Make sure your HD TV have component cable slot.

@Anti-Matter It’s a monitor he has. Like a computer monitor. That’s the problem, he’s trying to connect it to that, not a TV. Which can be done, he’s just having issues.

@Watts PS2 is a different output resolution so this could be an issue, best bet is to get a RAD2X cable when available as this can increase the signal resolution making it easier for modern screens to display

Older than I care to remember but have been gaming since owning a wooden Atari 2600 and played pretty much everything inbetween.
