Topic: Does Anyone Remember This Game?

When I was a kid, my aunt bought me a Play Station 2 one Christmas and I still have it. I was thinking about buying my favorite game for it on some old game disc site since I lost the disc a long time ago, but the trouble is, I never knew the name. I was wondering if anyone could figure out what game it is because google is not helping.

I don’t know if it’s for Play Station or Play Station 2 because I had a lot of games for both and they all worked on my Play Station 2, so keep that in mind in your search.

The game had a like a partly holographic cover on the disc with some of the designs of the characters on it. The game had your character in a little cottage of sorts as your character’s house and you could travel around the world. I vaguely remember the art of the game being kinda pixel-art like, but I could be a little off. You had to go on quests, battle certain things, etc. At one point, I think like two little kids meet your character. One of the battles was against a snake thing. The weapon I remember the most because I thought it was pretty was this scepter with like a red jewel or something on it. You could play as a boy character or a girl character. The game had some like mild anime vibes according to my vague memories but that’s about it.

I never learned its name. If it came on in the intro at all, I don’t remember. I don’t know what the disc said on it or had on it specifically. Part of me wants to say it gave me Alice in Wonderland vibes because I vaguely think there was a rabbit or a clock or both on the disc, but that could be wrong.

It was my favorite thing, though, like I said. I’d really like to look at it again. So if any of you can pinpoint the game, let me know the name.

@SpooderBish Random stab in the dark... it's not Suikoden or its sequel, is it?

Or could it be Alundra, perhaps? Google Image Search is showing me a lot of holographic-lookin' covers for that game on PSone.

Look up both of those names and you'll know. Otherwise sorry, not a clue!

I'm bumping this thread because I'm really intrigued as to what this game is. Some things explained ring a bell but others throw me off.
Dark Chronicle?
Dragon Quest VIII?

@ApostateMage Dark Chronicle was actually my thought as well. This is definitely intriguing though.

@RogerRoger I was thinking Alundra as well due to the cover.

I looked those games up and most of what I got just had gameplay images that don’t look like the game, sorry.

I never had the case for it, but I can go further into details about the disc.

The disc was holographic like I said, but most of it was either white or some off-white color. The holographic part was in the little designs like drawn into it. Like the characters and whatnot were drawn with holographic lines.

The gameplay wasn’t 3D at all to my memory. Like think of a Stardew Valley aesthetic almost but the graphics were a little more detailed and changed up here and there.

It also might be for a plain PlayStation because I remember how it often refused to save to my PlayStation 2’s memory card.

Hmm... We need more details. What we do know for now is that it is a JRPG featuring a clock, a snake, and some other stuff. What kind of game is it, exactly? Is it a 3rd person combat like Monster Hunter or aerial/isometric view like Final Fantasy Tactics? Have you tried looking up Idea Factory games like Legend of Heroes series?
