Games that have been given this discouraging term from varied sites for utilizing select features are: Escape Plan(Many of the Vita's features) wipEout 2048(Motion Sensor) What makes it discouraging is just that they're saying it's either a) unresponsive or b) a bad entry in the gameplay. Do you think we should take this term seriously and reconsider those games, or ignore them, reguardless of the quality of how they use the Vita's features?
I think what he's talking about is that certain games are being made for the Vita basically to be a test run of the features (Motion sensor, touch pad, etc,) These games are being made just so they can test it out with people to find them responsive. Also I think he's talking about certain websites that overlook titles because of these features. To me, the way i chose a game is if I see it, I play it, I experience it can compel me to buy it. I liked the idea of escape plan and liked their previous game Fat Princess, I got it and realized it very good and the features it utilizes is used very well. But i would never call a game being used to "test the tech" They are just games that utilize the features of the Vita. i hope I am correct in the assumption that you were making
FWIW I dislike it very much when I have to touch the screen when a simple button press should be enough to select something. Come on folks, just let me press X.

Ooh, so close. Thanks for helping me out =D Please excuse me, I was saying that sites are calling the games' uses of the features bad in the actual game(In wipEout 2048, the motion controls are a bit unresponsive to me) and it lowers the overall quality and fun in the game.
Escape Plan and Little Deviants are clearly games that use the "tech" in Vita to its fullest, but WipEout 2048's motion controls are completely optional and it's one of the best games on the system -- not to mention one of, if not the, best WipEout title developed.
I wouldn't get worked up over these sayings too much. It's just about as bad as the "blue screen of death" for Vita, or the "black screen of death" for the 3DS. It's quick-quip jargon in a world of instant news, where journalist will say anything to pull quick hits, regardless to the longtime effects to the sites they write for. But, you can be assured that this isn't anything that will ever be found at our sites.
Testing tech is always fine, as long as a particular game utilizing features for a particular hardware is effective. I think touch gameplay and inputs are interesting however, I appreciate when devs make them optional. Real input controls are far more reliable and responsive but ts nice to have subtle touch controls add to an experience.
I think Wii was definitely more tech testing; the first few years had so many "waggle" controls, a lot of consumers and editors began to question motion controls as a gimmick. Touch controls seem less gimmicky since you are still physically making gestures and accurate precision.
I enjoy the more casual games that utilize touch controls, but games that require timing and accuracy is definitely far more difficult than they should be. I cant tell you guys how many good games are available for the iOS and Android devices and could be loads better if they were on handhelds like the Vita and 3DS with physical controls. Imagine Infinity Blade games on Vita; they would be easier to control and the devs could obviously keep the touch controls!
And that's the point (or the issue) as many game devs might believe that many possible users would prefer the touch controls just because they are/were used to play with their smartphones/tablets.
I would say it depends on how the game is being actively advertised. If the motion controls are a big big big part of how the game is being hyped and then they turn out to stink on ice, that would be a huge problem for me, because chances are that's what I bought the game for. If they're billed as just another option, though, and the normal controls are excellent, it probably wouldn't be a _big_ deal to me, but i'd be sure to mention it to anyone I was discussing the game with just so they knew the motion controls were crap.
that said, this kind of thing happens whenever something brand new is brought to the fore. the DS suffered from all kinds of lame crap back when it first hit -- games that hardly used the touchscreen at all, games that used it exclusively when buttons would've been a much easier option, games that tried to take advantage of the mic and failed miserably, that sort of thing. the Wii _definitely_ has its share of wagglefests and the like, and Kinect, Move, and the 3DS have suffered (or are still suffering) from the same as devs continue to get used to the capabilities of the system/its peripherals and work toward implementing intuitive, useful functionality within their games. at this point in time, i think it's more important that devs choose to focus not so much on the brand new features the Vita has to offer, but on making their games as robust and timeless as possible so that people will enjoy them just as much later on in the lifetime of the system as they do right now. give button options just in case, y'know, and don't just do things because you _can_. do them because they're the right choice for the game at hand.

Really? I had some dust-worthy games of my own when I had my 3DS, for example, since I pre-ordered it, I got games like Spongebob Squigglepants and CN Punch Time Explosion. Each system has their fair share of bad games, I guess, and as the PlayStation Vita grows, I can only imagine it's gonna have some of it's own, quite sadly...
