Topic: any way to download items while the ps vita is in sleep mode

I don't want to sit there for 2 hours downloading a game and have to keep the screen awake is there any way to download in sleep mode?

It's just like your PS3, as soon as you click to download the game, it downloads from that point forward, regardless if you're playing a game or the system is sitting idle.

I figured so, the idea of waiting for things to download would suck. Sleep/ idle mode ought to download faster since it's not doing anything else.

which i will be doing for MHFU, tho i have a really crappy wireless connection...unless i can connect my ps vita to my pc and use its internet connection? would that work somehow?

Not unless they invent a USB style connection like Nyko did for wii. It wouldn't make the system very portable though... If you have dsl, look into a different speed package and that ought I improve your speed. A new wireless router could also help. However, it never hurts to reconfigure your router settings; sometimes the wireless power settIng is usually set at "6" which shares internet speeds.

but doesnt the ps vita come with a cord that has a usb cable on the end of it?  so wouldn't i just plug the cord into the computer?  or is that just used for backing up data?

My Vita will continue to download, even in sleep mode, as long as it's plugged into the charger. If it's not plugged in, it will stop the download when it goes into sleep mode. I've downloaded most of my retail titles during the night while I'm asleep.

Yeah, I tried that and doesn't work for me... What did I do wrong that you did right?

You have to let the system go into sleep mode on its own. Just plug it in, start the download, and let it fade into sleep mode on its own.

Uh-huh! And I kept pressing the button for 3 nights in a row. Duh!

ive just did a lot of test, the vita can download things while on sleep mode, it "doesnt need to be plugged to keep downloading things", im downloading fifa without plugin the vita in stanby mode, just let it go to sleep by itself if you want but when i pushed the on-off buttonit still kept downloading the file, anyone let me know if this happens to you too.

I don't think there's any rhyme or reason. My download quit last night and it was plugged in and allowed to slip into sleep mode. I actually downloaded about half of the game and then stopped. So who the hell knows.

Maybe is the routers fault, check the settings.
