My Story. I was a young boy. Maybe one or two years old when I grabbed my 1st controller. Well, let me rephrase that. I had it forcibly shoved into my hands by my older brother. That beautiful grey controller, her name was Nessy. She was my brothers 1st love. But when he wasn't looking. I had my way with her. The 1st game I remember playing is Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom. I was very young, maybe four or five. I had no idea what I was doing. I mashed buttons, looked at the pretty colors, and got yelled at for doing the wrong thing over and over by my big bro. Then came Super Mario. That was the one for me. I remember all of the shortcuts, all of the level skips, I know how to get to the last level of Super Mario and Super Mario 3 in my sleep. Zelda, Metroid, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles this was my brother and I's everyday life.
Then, the Super Nes. My very own system of my own. I loved it more than my brother. My best friends Fox McCloud and Scooby Doo went on so many adventures together. Flying through space, unmasking old man Jenkins, blissful days. Then, I cheated on her. I went to a friend's house, where I met her. N64. She was beautiful. I fought vigilantly against Link and Pikachu, but no one could stop Captain Falcon and I. We were unstoppable. When I got home, things were different between me and my beloved SNES. We just didn't click like before. Then I spit in her face. I asked my parents for a N64 of my own.
"Christmas morning, all snug in our bed, my brother and I slept with heads filled with dread. Dreamed dreams of spelunking and caves and poo pipes, while she sat in the den, all sparkly and nice. We woke with a thump, my face on the floor, for I rolled out of bed, excitement torn. We ran to the den to see what Santa had brang, there she was, my sparkly new game. My N64 was sitting on the couch. Two controllers, from Sams, All wrapped in a pouch. No games in site, just these small words. We'll go to Blockbuster and you two can rent games."
Smash bros. Duh.. We played the crap out of it. That 64 still works today, But then we heard the new. Psone. For my brother it was love at 1st site. For me not so much. When it came out, he played it the most but me and N64 were unspeakable. Until I grabbed than new controller for the first time. Lara Croft my angel and her tight pixilated tale. Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, it was amazing. Then PS2 came out. Bro had one 1st played all the games, then left home. So there I sat with my 5th PSone and, because of our anger problems, 4 other broke ones, my 64 and SNES. It was a few years til I got my PS2 then Xbox came out, and it was obsolete. Halo was awesome and so was Fable but as soon as I beat it, Ps3 and Xbox 360..
Bro had em 1st. And I played at his house. then the Wii came out and same thing there. Then I got mine and we play online. We don't get to see each other much because of the distance, but gaming keeps up close. Now we do nothing but play and work. Two die hard Sony fans with our Wiis and 360s.
I owe all my game experience to my big brother. If not for him, I would not know anything about games. I love them now, and dream of making them. I love my bro for many things, but mainly for forcing me to play games.
What do I do in my spare time now?? Mostly plays Fable, Skyrim and Gotham City. When I'm not working or watching Mlp:Fim.
What's these 'video games' that you speak of? I might have to try them someday.
Haha... I LOL'd a few times through that! I wish we had a timer on all the time we spent playing the PlayStation Underground disc -- especially once we figured out there were hidden Japanese demos locked away inside them. I think I bought nearly every game on those disc at some point.
Those were good times and great memories. Thanks lil' bro!

Those disc are still sitting around here somewhere. remember the demo for the top game that had the little monsters on it that we played the absolute crap out of?
I grew up on the Dreamcast, playing the heck out of the first Generator demo disk, until I finally got Sonic Adventure, which is one of my favorite games of all time, probably just because of my fond memories of it. I remember when I beat it for the first time, and just how happy I was. I also had a snes kicking around too, but I never played it that much, except for Super Mario Land and Street Fighter Alpha 2. I still have each system, and play them from time to time.

I was introduced to games at about 5 or 6, and I was introduced with a cheesy Spongebob Xbox game, but I also played Psychonauts, Mech Assault 1 and 2 two. However, I first played a Sony game at like, 7 or 6, yet I only remember playing to games on my step-brothers PS2. The first handheld I've ever laid my hands on was a Nintendo DS. I think I made my thread too long compared to everyone else...
By 1983 I was so curious about computers that got my parents buying a Sony HitBit MSX1. By that time there were almost no games available for it outside of Japan, so I learnt to program for it and was creating my own games. One year later Konami disembarked in Europe with many games in cartridge format (Skyjaguar being one of the firsts for me) and many other European companies were releasing games in tape format. Gaming golden age of around 10 years was about to begin.
Work Christmas party. We went for the bowl of punch at the same time. It was like ... love at first dunk-your-hand-in-the-punch-bowl. We snuck out and got drinks. And then ... other stuff happened. And she hasn't left my bedroom since.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
Stuck a quarter in Asteroids in 1980 and was hooked from that moment on. Got an Atari 2600 the next year and I've been at console gaming ever since.
Corbs I'm right there with you! Pinball arcades in the early 1980s. Certainly remember Asteroids, Pacman, Defender and many others. My favourite was Galaga3. Check it out : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUNOQZ5S1bQ
My first console was an Atari 2600 as well. Many great games! My favourite was Adventure. Looking at it now it is just embarrassing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6-zN_eaRd8
I taught myself to program on the Commodore 64 by fiddling with them in supermarkets. So my parents bought me one when I was 11. That became my games machine for many years. Followed by the Amiga 500 which at the time had the most amazing graphics anyone had ever seen. Defender of the Crown just blew me away. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Af0vFi4sSzw
Got a 386 PC when I went to Uni (studying computer engineering) and used PCs for games for many years. Slowly playing less and less (life/stuff happens), until Jan 2010 when we purchased a PS3 (the ruse was a Blue-ray player to replace the broken DVD player) and have been hooked again since then.
My dads PS2 and received my own GBA and DS Lite. Though I wasn't a big gamer then but this how I became one.The funny thing is I was watching MUGEN videos ( a downloadable free fighting game on PC with endless amounts of downloadable characters) because Homer Simpson was in them, being a Simpsons fan I watched them for their hilarity in Homer fighting other characters. One video had him fighting in a Mario stage. I asked my dad what it was and told me it was Mario a game series. I looked it up and watching the Super Mario World cartoon ( The famous Mama Luigi episode no less). The same day I went to GameStop and purchased Super Mario Advance 2, thinking it was New Super Mario Bros as I remembered it faintly from a commercial. Even though it wasn't what I was expecting even my dad said " want to return it?" after finding out it wasn't the game I was looking for, I loved it and still own it today and played it on my DS Lite. Then I rented Sonic Mega Collection months later seeing as it was another platformer and eventually I kept finding out about more franchises and purchased more consoles and expanded to a PC, Nintendo and Sony gamer. That's how a became a gamer, from The Simpsons.
