With PS5 in the corner, which games will you folks play last on your PS4?

I don't know about you, but I actually have to sell my PS4 to cover a part of PS5's price in my country... That said, back to the topic!

Lately that passion for Kingdom Hearts is starting to kick in again, I feel like going through the series all over again! That and Fall Guys should keep me busy for the next few weeks until launch. =)

Considering the PS5 is already going to be physically backwards compatible with virtually every currently released PS4 game in addition to definite backwards compatibility for the newly released and upcoming titles, I expect my PS4 to be retired relatively quickly. Especially if I can play games like KH: The Story so Far, Persona 5 Royal, Yakuza 1-6, the Final Fantasy re-releases, God of War, and Uncharted The Nathan Drake Collection all at launch straight out of the box.

Probably Persona 6 in a few years, assuming I haven't purchased a PS5 by then. Otherwise, probably some random game I bought in a sale five years previously.

Currently Playing: Yakuza Kiwami 2 (SD)

@Ralizah Oh you know Atlus is probably going to dual release it on PS4 as well since they have a reputation for releasing new games on singificantly older hardware even when newer hardware has been out for years

For me it'll be Cyberpunk 2077. I'll be playing it on my PS4 while my PS5 games download.

@TheFrenchiestFry I'd be shocked if it wasn't a cross-gen release, frankly. Persona 4 on PS2 after the PS3 released. Persona 5 was essentially a PS3 game that was ported with minor improvements to PS4. They're still behind an entire console gen technologically with this series.

So, in half a decade, we'll hopefully see the full extent of what they're capable of outputting on the PS4's tech.

I don't know. I never retire my systems, heck I still play PS2 from time to time. I just never understood getting of a system just because a newer one comes out.

I will unplug my PS4 as soon as I have Spider-Man Miles Morales. I kinda expect PS4 to be fully backwards compatible with all of my games. If it isn't... well, we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

That's because I'm going to be playing PS4 games well into the next generation. Still need to play Spider-Man, Persona 5, Nier Automata, Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us 2 after all!

Right now I'm playing Danganronpa V3 and Vampyr on my PS4, as well as Judgment, but I am trying to get those completed well before the PS5 arrives. That would leave me time for something small, a tiny elegy for my PS4... but I don't know what that's going to be. I'll probably ask the community over here too. I love small dumb games, so I wouldn't be surprised at a game like Untitled Goose Game or Snake Pass.

I'm gonna fuse my PS4 and PS5 together so then I'll have a PS9.

My ps4 is being relegated to door stop as soon as I get my ps5. I've not really planned what I'm going to play as I just play what I feel like. I've not bought any any games since Ghost of Tsushima and I don't plan to get anymore. Cyberpunk 2077 is pre-ordered but will be played on my PS5.

I've stopped getting rid of old consoles. Decided I am going to move my PS4 up into my office next to my PC for playing any random PS4 games I want.

Once concern I have with PS5 is PSVR. Looks like you'll still need the additional box to route through and I don't really want that on my PS5 since it will look crap, needs adapters and will be forcing through better visuals than the box can handle as is the case with the PS4 Pro (at least as far as my limited understanding goes) so may see if I can get the room for PSVR in the office but that is rather limiting.

Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot

@Ralizah If they somehow manage to top Persona 5's general presentation and sense of style, P6 could potentially push the PS4 to greater limits than P5 did for the PS3

I was gonna make my PS4's last hurrah Ghost of Tsushima, but I'm at the point where I think I'll just wait to play it on my PS5, whenever that may be.

But I'd only ever get rid of my PS4 when Sony confirms that every single (and I mean, every single) game in my Library will carry over to the next generation. Because I have a couple which I think are never gonna make the leap, my PS4 will always be welcome on my shelf, so long as it still works.

The day before I upgrade, to bookend the generation, I might go back and play the first game I ever played on my PS4, which was the helpfully-short MGSV: Ground Zeroes.

Honestly, not going to get a PS5 until the crossgen support dries up. So I guess I’ll be playing the same games at you lot unless I decide to hold off for a better looking experience.

I’ve been thinking about this and I am not sure how I’m going to approach it.

I was planning on day 1 adoption of PS5 and just play my PS4 backlog on the new hardware, but with the preorders being crazy and the amount of stalking the internet required to get it day 1, I’m just turned off to the idea of getting it at launch. I don’t have the money at the moment and I don’t have the patience to search all over kingdom come either. So I might just wait and see if some kind soul gifts me one for Christmas. That, or I’ll start a GoFundMe account so I can afford to buy a marked up one from the scalpers on eBay. I’m sure I can think of a sad enough story to lure some donations. 😉
Kidding of course. I wouldn’t support that kind of parasitic behavior.

But more likely what will happen is that I’ll wander into Best Buy or Target one day and they’ll have one in stock. When will that be? Next February or March? Who knows.

And the truth of the matter is that I have oodles of PS4 games to tide me over for many months. Way more than I had on PS3 at the end. But I reserve the right to completely change my mind if I happen to stumble upon an easy pre-order.

Incidentally, the last game I spent any substantial time with on PS3 was Dishonored. And part of the problem with finishing it was that it was on last gen hardware and I had too many PS4 games pulling me away by the time I had tried Dishonored, so it only got a small amount of my attention.

At this point, since I have no idea when I'll even be able to buy a PS5, its a hard question to answer. It looks like we might be deep into 2021 before everyone who wants one is able to buy one.

I'm not going to buy ANY game that will be available on the PS5 as a PS4 game, no matter how long I have to wait. So it will likely depend on whether any of the remaining unreleased PS4 games that I'm interested in come out between now and then, like Biomutant, Edge of Eternity or Tales of Arise.

It will be Rouge or call of duty in the ps4 when I shut it down for the last time ! And it will go to the attic with all the rest of the old PlayStations 1,2,3 and the1 xbox that survived !

Trails of cold steel 4. I’m going to finish the games I start on PS4 with the PS4. Trails of cold steel 4 comes out just before the PS5 launch, Is likely to take well over 100 hours to complete and is not something I’m prepared to wait to start.
