I'm trying to hopefully aquire a PS5 disc version by Christmas this year. I still have yet to see one in stores and I've checked several online shops with no success. None of them seem to be selling at any kind of a retail price.

Can anyone who has one tell me how you got yours or offer any suggestions on where i might find one without going broke?

@Truegamer79 There are websites which track incoming stock alerts, as well as social media accounts which you can follow for tips and stock rumours. Use them to get a feel for when places take delivery of new stock, and then make sure you're sitting ready, refreshing Amazon at that time. You should get lucky.

@Truegamer79 Hi Mate, I can hopefully help - or at the very least share my own positive experiences in obtaining multiple PS5s.

In the last 1-2 years I have obtained a total of 8 PS5s (one for me, and then the rest for friends/family) by using a stock-tracking app called "HotStock" on my iPhone.

It was recommended to me by a friend, and I was quite dubious at first, but it genuinely works!

Basically it serves as some kind of online stock-tracker, and will send a notification to your phone the moment that your desired item (PS5 or other) becomes available at a noted retailer.

The base app is free, but monthly subscription to the 'premium' tier seemed to yield me slightly better results - and this was IIRC ~ 5£GBP p/month.

Its been a while since I copped my last PS5 (some months) but usually it took about 2 weeks max to get one from my downloading the app.

It is actually remarkably easy when doing this - BUT the huge caveat is that you really need to have a job where you are able to sit with your phone nearby and on at all times... and then potentially able to stop whatever task you are doing to quickly log in and purchase (before they sell out!)

I'm lucky to have a remote/travel based job and therefore I was basically glued to my phone most of the time, and only ever missed a few drops.

I'd highly recommend this approach, and would be wholly confident you'd cop one before Christmas.

1 tip though - it would pay to make sure that you are already signed up and auto logged-in to the main retailers in your country. I lost out on a couple of PS5s because I hadnt auto-signed in to my Amazon account... and then they were sold out by the time I logged in!

Thanks I'll try that! I do have a job where i would have plenty opportunities to check the App so that may be a good way to get one.

@Truegamer79 yeh honestly I couldn’t recommend it enough! I’d upgrade to the premium service as well

Best of luck man, hopefully you strike in a week or so

Thanks I'll keep at it and hopefully get lucky. I got the app downloaded to my phone so I'll see how it goes.

The last 4 times I went into my local Walmart they had at least 1 in stock so I would say keep an eye out on them.

@Truegamer79 Are you based in UK/USA? One of my friends just text me now (in UK) and he managed to get one yesterday by using HotStock

He downloaded the app about 3 weeks ago I think, but by his own admission he rarely keeps his phone on him so he missed out on 3-4 potential drops

@CJD87

Yeah I'm in the USA. I've got the App on my phone now and I've been getting a few alerts already! This may be my chance!

Hey just wanted to say thanks for suggesting hot stock! You really did me a favor. I'm now finally the proud owner of a PS5! I didn't have to sell my organs to get it either. I got it for just over 600 dollars. I got an alert in the App just a week before Christmas and i jumped on it the second i got paid! I picked up a copy of Demon's souls to go with it!

I'm telling all my friends about hotstock! It really works!

@Truegamer79 Yessss mate!

Huge congratulations! I'm always conscious that when I promote 'Hot Stock', it sounds like I'm a covert employee working for commission LOL (I'm not btw!) but genuinely I managed to get about 8 or so in the last couple of years for friends and family via this method.

Did you subscribe for the 5 £GBP 'upgrade'? I did, but not sure how much difference this makes.

Genuinely really happy for you man, and Demon's Souls is a class act. My personal favorite PS5 game of all time, even moreso than Elden Ring, is Returnal. Returnal is pretty tough, but an addictive gameplay loop and great showcase of what your PS5 can offer!

I actually hadn't even upgraded yet and got the alert. I was like hell yes! I'm enjoying Demon's souls but man i really gotta learn to play better. I'm used to challenging games but yikes! Every boss has me gripping my controller and nervous that I'll mess up. Just getting to the bosses is bad enough. I'm thinking of picking up Eldin Ring too. People seem to be going crazy for that one. Oh and Astros playroom was the first thing i played. It's like Sonys answer to Mario. The haptic feedback thing is wild! I keep asking how does it do that? Pretty cool!

@Truegamer79 you paid $600 for it ?!?! it being $500 is questionable as is!

@Truegamer79 Awesome and enjoy... yes Elden Ring is quality, my personal 2022 GOTY!

Well 552 plus tax so close to it. Plus the game. It beats paying the 8 or 9 hundred dollars scalpers are asking for on Ebay. I kid you not I've seen sellers online asking for over 1000! Are they insane?

I guess they are hoping some idiot with a fat wallet and nothing to lose would pay that much. I'm lucky i got one at all.
