@JohnnyShoulder yeah that actually rings a bell… I remember completing a corpse run and thinking that I dropped more runes than I’d picked up. All makes sense now.
Got my character to level 73, using a +6 winged scythe, it hits pretty hard! I did respec to make it work. Not sure how many times I'll be able to do that. Guessing the item needed is very limited. The weapon's special ability is pretty fun, leaping into the air and sweeping forward, it does some good damage.
@LieutenantFatman haven't seen that one yet. Sounds fun! Im level 72 as well. I have my moonviel maxed or at least i think its maxed. Still not able to beat that dam dragonfly boss though. Need to leave and come back at 90 and try again. Much still to do!
Anyone know if you can get a boss's rune back? I accidently used it for runes. I tried going to the giant bell walkers, but once inside it didn't offer me a rune to repeat/get back. Maybe I'm out of luck.
@LieutenantFatman I used that weapon's (even though I don't have high enough stats to use it properly) skill move to jump to a platform I could not reach in one of the mines. Whereabouts in the game are you?
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
I finally jumped aboard the Hype Train and am around 14 or so hours in.
I feel like I took a slightly unorthodox route to start with as I explored some of the area near to the main starting point, cleared Stormfoot catacombs and then headed over to the Church of Dragon Communion before then deciding to head south to the Weeping Peninsula, making it round to the minor Erdtree and Church of Pilgrimage (I avoided the castle on the peninsula for now).
Then I changed tack and went back to the Stormgate but ended up looping around to the Lake Facing Cliff and heading to Roundtable Hold, where I managed to beat the Mad Tongue fella. Went back to Stormveil and beat Margit.
Now I've made it through the castle (in a very different way to the guide on this site which I've written a lengthy post at the bottom of) and am on the verge of taking on Godrick.
I’m still chilling and eating magic mushrooms in Caelid. I loved the colour and atmosphere in Volcano Manor. I go back to previously visited spots and make new discoveries.
Don’t go too fast guys. The game is worth seeing everything the devs made for us to enjoy. I’m constantly amazed and stalling the main story discovering new stuff.
The crowd, accepting this immediately, assumed the anti-Eurasian posters and banners everywhere were the result of acts of sabotage by agents of Goldstein and ripped them from the walls.
@JohnnyShoulder
Oh nice, clever, I wouldn't have thought of that.
I just defeated the boss of the war-dead catacombs in Caelid, having taken on the very large boss outside of it. Currently running round the lava area.
It's probably just me, maybe I should have written stuff down, maybe it's because my middle age brain is already like a sieve but ER has really made me appreciate games with a quest log all the more. I keep meeting NPCs that start the conversation like they know me so I then have no choice but to check on fextra to see who the hell they are. Ok it doesn't have to go as far as to tell me where I need to go, that's fine but at least give me some sort of recap so that each time I pick the game up I can actually remember that I started something.
Another thing that I would love would be that when I pick up an item then let me take a look at the info relating to the item straight away (if I'm not getting killed by something) so that I then don't have to spend five minutes trying to find the damn thing in my inventory.
On the plus side I've taken down a few bosses over the weekend including the Godskin Apostle and Astel Naturalborn of the Void and still haven't even touched Leyndell yet. I think I've notched up close to 70 hours now and have tried to be really thorough but I'm still worried that I've likely missed something really important on the way.
@Elodin Thanks! I don’t know if I’m really ready to take on the boss here but I can but try. It also seems like the castle has plenty more for me to explore too. Or I might try the east side of the first area too.
I like the open world nature of the game but sometimes it’s nice to have a bit of direction!
Has anyone made use of the dragon spells? Agheel’s and Smarag’s breath use all my FP but do little damage. Good aoe but really poor use of a whole bar of FP.
I wanted to build a “Mad Monk” to use the frenzy spells, dragon spells, dragon seal so I can pump arcane, and bleed weapons (synergies with arcane). Working well so far!
Edit: I also wanted to play through without overlevelling everything due to excessive exploration.
I platinumed the game (through some savescumming for the different endings) on saturday morning. Clocked in 200hrs, around lvl150 dex/fth build (with no farming except for some helping out with difficult bosses as a white phantom.) This game might be my favourite game ever slightly above Bloodborne. But I seriously need a break right now, although I sill returned for one or two quick runs for stuff I saw on youtube xD And I still have the Vyke Invasion bugged and one mausoleum not working... So waiting for a patch b4 I enter NG+.
@Mega-Gazz
I had two phantoms and we basically got her into a corner and staggersmacked her until phase 1 was over. In phase two we blood mosquitoed her to death xD Luckily enough all 3 of us used that spell...
