Well just like everyone here I'm really excited about the PS4 but then I couldn't complete my 7 must have games list to get it but that wasn't all I started to make a quick list of reasons why its a bad idea getting it on day one.

CONS:
-Must of the PS4 games are also going to be available for PS3.
-I still haven't played all the amazing games of the PS3's HUGE LIBRARY.
-Huge initial investment (No awesome bundles and 60$ per controller)
-Weak DAY ONE games if you take out cross-gen games.
-Sony and 3rd party devs are still making games for PS3.
- Initial day one rush
-None of my friends are getting it at launch

Current List:
-Knack
-Infamous Second Son
-Star Wars: Battlefront III

Still missing 4 more games and till then I won't consider getting a PS4 and after that I will start saving for a PS4.
Sorry for not being able to join you all guys at launch but right now I'm on denial with this launch but this might change after the realease of some key titles and 1st party games.

Don't forget Warframe!

Also, the absolute number one reason to buy it at launch is that even though I'll probably end up playing my ps3 just as much (if not more) than my ps4, I'll be collecting free games throughout its lifespan.  I'm already paying for plus, so why don't I take the free games too?  My fiancee wants a handheld - and while we're considering the 3ds and the vita...if she gets the vita, she'll start with like 10-20 games since I've been collecting them all along (I don't think you'll be able to do the same for ps4 if you don't have it).  Plus remote play - I can play ps3 and she can play ps4.

These are the games I'm excited about:

Infamous Second Son
Final Fantasy XV
Kingdom Hearts 3
Whatever Naughty Dog will put out next
Warframe (free)

These are maybes
Planetside 2 (free)
Knack

As for the huge initial investment, I think you're wrong.  My mouth dropped at the fact that the Wii U was only $50 less.  I was expecting something much more like the 499 Xbox had.

To be fair you can say most of those reasons about any console when it comes out. That said I plan on waiting for a better deal and a better line up of games as well. I also have a long list of PS3 games I have yet to get around to playing.

The only reason I'm getting a PS4 close to launch (aiming for a Black Friday buy) is the fact that I skipped out on Sony this generation and opted for Microsoft's box. I won't be able to buy both a PS3 and PS4 so close together so I'm just going to go ahead and take the risk of being an early adopter of the PS4. I'm really hoping Sony delivers with Gaikai so that eventually I can play the wonderful collection the PS3 has built up over the years.

I'm getting it at launch simply because I'm a big fan of the Killzone and inFamous franchises and each of the newest entries look awesome and I want to play them right away. One is a launch game the other is a 'launch window' game. I'm also thinking MLB 14 The Show will be out by May at the latest and since I'm a huge baseball fan that's another big plus for me. If those games weren't releasing that early I'd probably be waiting a bit before buying a PS4 as well.

All valid reasons, Epic. I'll get one at launch, though...if I can scrape together the money, that is. Killzone and inFamous interest me very much, as do Watch_Dogs, Battlefield 4 and lately even Knack and maybe AC 4. That's allready more games than I can afford around launch, so I should be good.

Also, I'm with Gamer83 here...I'll have PS+ anyway and will put a huge HDD into my PS4, so I don't wanna miss out on any free PS+ games.

Here's a question for anyone who isn't going to get a PS4 at launch - like myself: if you have PS+ and don't want to miss out on all the games on PS4, will we be able to purchase then on the desktop version of the PSN site? You haven't got to download the games and we've paid for + so surely by claiming it we can then all still get the games for when we do own a PS4. Or is that nonsense?

Personally I think anyone who buys a console at launch is daft, and I speak from personal experience. Overpriced, hardly any games for the first six-twelve months and end up being hugely annoyed when the co sole doesn't sell very well and is reduced a few months later. And I still think both PS4 and Xbox One will struggle like the Wii U after the initial day one hype dies down.

True, the only exception are all the cross generetional games and some consoles that you won't need to buy all the controllers again

I think you can do, Or at least should be able to. Ive been doing the same thing with Vita games on PS+ n now Ive got a backlog of games from that to play now I actually have a Vita. I cant see why not. As you probably know once purchased it just drops into your download history. The only way I cant see it working is if the Ps4 is segregated from the Other Sony consoles with regards to your SEN account.

Im not getting a Ps4 at launch, but thats mainly due to preorders at my local grainger games is already at 40+ and when I enquired I was told id be guarunteed a console before christmas, not at launch. Yeah. Id rather just buy one when I can. Ill probably leave it till the new year anyway n see how the first few months pan out.

Knack
Killzone
Driveclub
The Division
Infamous
Transistor
Octodad
Galak-z

I'm getting one at launch mostly because I skipped out on sony this past gen and i'm itching for new hardware.

Completely agree with you. Launch consoles always struggle and there are few exclusive games. I know that I will get a PS4, but I will problaby wait until it has Metal Gear Solid V, FF XV and Kingdom Hearts 3, which I don't think will happen in the first year... I also got a console at launch and was disapointed. I learned my lesson and now i always wait at least 6 months before deciding to buy.

That;s assuming they will have slow starts. The Wii U is an oddity since there was no tangible hype for the console up to launch and lack of confidence in Nintendo had me personally wait on it.  I don't see those types of problems plaguing the other systems. The biggest problem I see for Sony will probably not having anyway to feel up the demand for the console compared to the Xbox (rumors are there are going to be more one units produced than PS4) and the WIi U which doesn't really have an avability issue.

I do not want to play all these cross gen games with lower quality resolutions. I mean Assassins Creed 4 has so much fricken jungle population due to the power of the new system......there is no way in hell AC4 is going to look that beautiful on the PS3....not even close.

To be totally honest, I'm sick of how badly some games run on PS3 these days - the console's been showing its age for years now, the only exceptions being stand out titles like The Last of Us, but even then it's extremely demanding of the system.

If I have a choice between a game that has long load times, relatively poor draw distance, and a shaky frame rate, and a game that has none of these problems, I'll pick the latter for the best experience. Might sound snobbish, but that's just how I see it.

agreed and all those terrible ports we get because of the structure of cell......PS4 to me is at last the TRUE successor to the PS2.

I honestly don't think people realise how much of an improvement the PS4 will be when it comes to software performance. People tend to just say "oh it's got better graphics" - but really, that's one of the least important aspects of better hardware.

We only settle for jumpy frame rates and memory problems because we've been stuck in this generation for so long. Once we actually get our hands on the PS4, the difference will be instantly noticeable. Anyone who has a relatively powerful PC will know the feeling.

I'm proud to be an early adopter. If everyone took the wait and see approach console gaming would die.

Im preordered it day one.
@rastamadeus So you think im an idiot then? Fine with me but one thing: the wii U is tanking and without the 3ds and their huge warchest they would be no were. Wii U cant fail harder...  If ps4 is going the same way we can say goodbye to gaming.
