Hi - Hoping someone can help me out as Playstation Customer Service said this was not in their purview. I just purchased a PS4 Slim and am trying to connect it through my receiver to receive sound rather than directly to the TV, but nothing is showing up. I have connected directly to the TV and that works for picture (but obviously not sound as that is all connected through the receiver) so know that it is not a malfunctioning HDMI chord. I've also read some threads on the forum that it is caused by enabling the HDCP so I disabled that and have also tried with the HDMI connector as well, but that is not working either. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Yeah, the slim is built for simplicity (one HDMI cord, done). I've seen some solutions using a splitter box (HDMI from PS4 to box, then HDMI from box to TV for video and another cord from box to receiver). Or, fiddle the settings to have all audio come out of controller and use headphones or your receiver's auxiliary input and a long enough cord.
@fontainelefunk Yeah, I tried a splitter, but unfortunately that didn't work either. Everything should be able to run from PS4 to receiver and then the main hdmi from the receiver to TV so assuming it's either not compatible or it's not on the right settings.
Or power everything ready to go before turning on the PS4. I've read HDMI handshaking is a pain. Also check for threads regarding your model of receiver; surely you are not the first.
