Topic: Problem with update 5.55 and Safe mode

So i turn my ps4 on and it comes up in safe mode it says to connect the dualshock controller using a usb and press the ps button i followed the instructions it then went on to say i need to download system software update 5.55 so i downlaoded it the ps4 restarted and it came up on safe mode saying i had to download update 5.55 again i have done this 3 times now and get the same result any ideas i have had the ps4 for about 2 to 3 years and everytime there has been a system software update i have been able to do it from the homescreen but my ps4 wont even go on to homescreen any ideas on whats happening?

Wasn't there a way to update an offline PS4 via flash drive? You might try that or a different HD alltogether.

try using the system software on a USB - you can get it here and the instructions how to perform the update from usb: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/system-updates/ps4/

if this doesn't work, you may have to perform a completely new system software installation - i think this wipes the hard-drive though.

You have to format the usb in FAT32 make a folder called "PS4". Inside that folder create another folder named "UPDATE" and put the update file there.
