I just might get KH 1.5+2.5 simply for nostalgic purposes, but I don't think I'll bother getting KH3. Something about the series lately just doesn't seem to interest me anymore.

I've never played any Kingdom Hearts game before but I'm a really big Disney fan (even went to Disney World for my honeymoon) so I'm excited to finally get a chance. I've tried watching some gameplay videos but don't want to watch TOO much. I can't really tell how fun the combat is. Sometimes it just looked like enemies stood there while you hit them a couple times? Will it be tough going from Horizon's amazing combat and gameplay to Kingdom Hearts?

I also saw that the Japanese release had a ton of bugs and glitches, including one that crashes the game upon saving. Some have been patched but not everything yet. Hopefully they will fix everything soon.

Did anyone pick up KH 1.5 + 2.5?
How does it play? I've heard that there were some frame rate issues. I'll be getting my copy tomorrow, but I'm unsure whether to start it or not with Persona 5 out in a matter of days, especially if it's not up to snuff.

Been holding off on playing 2.8 cause I want to play them all from start to finish.

EDIT: @ArkhamKnerd Just got off Horizon myself & I don't think anything comes close to the way the enemies behave. They just do their own thing, which makes them unpredictable. In KH the combat is more arcade-like. Regular enemies are dispatched within seconds & certain stronger enemies will require some sort of tactic to hit a weak point. However, the boss battles are spectacular and crazy fun. They are usually multi-phase fights that will require you to adapt to the situation.

KH2 also has the toughest boss fight in any game ever imo. A certain secret boss fight that requires complete mastery of the combat system.
I love the combat. It's a lot fun. If you've played FFXV it's a lot like that, but less rigid.

@Fight_Teza_Fight not yet sorry,i have to wait until next week but my mate has been playing it and had no issues so far

@Fight_Teza_Fight It's funny because I bought my PS4 during Black Friday deals last year and ultimately what helped me buy it was knowing Horizon and a Kingdom Hearts collection was coming...and now here I am thinking about getting Persona 5 (another series I've never played) instead and holding off on KH for awhile longer!

@FullbringIchigo Just picked it up. REALLY not a fan of the boxart. Thought the image was just a placeholder, but it looks like Square's design team consists of 9 year olds on MS paint. It looks tacky. Popped the disc in and there is already a update (5GB!) so I'm going to wait till after Persona 5. I've played these games to death already. 2.8 can wait, will make the wait for KH3 shorter.

@ArkhamKnerd The collection is very reasonably priced and comes with a ton of content, but so does Persona. Either choice is going to keep you busy for months. My preorder came with a nice fold out art book and I'm reminded of how much I love the series. Final Fantasy meets Disney, it shouldn't work, but it just does. Pure Disney magic sprinkled over JRPG goodness
I'm sure you'll enjoy it, when you do get to it. Now is the best time to get into Kingdom Hearts as it's all on one platform. Some of us had to buy multiple systems across a decade just to keep up with the story!

@kyleforrester87 The Japanese version released with a ton of bugs. Most were patched and would be part of the day 1 patch for the western release. Apparently the upgrade to 60fps really messed up a lot of stuff. Enough that people questioned whether or not SE even play tested the game. 😕 One issue (not sure if it's fixed or not) was the game crashing upon saving.

Yeah I'm rather interested in getting it but I'll wait till the bugs and crashes are fixed.

I FINALLY got the perfect ending for Kingdom Hearts II in KH 2.5! That epilogue and prelude to KH 3 is rather tantalizing! :F

Just caught up with the series.

Beat Kingdom Hearts 1.5+2.5 as well as 2.8. Took me ~147hours to beat both collections. Here are some of my thoughts on some of the games:

KHCoM:
The 'true' KH 1.5. Its the third time I've played this and every time I discover something new. It's filled with nuggets of information that fleshes out the whole KH universe. I do enjoy the combat. It starts out slow, but the last 5-10 hours require great strategy and timing. You can pull of some amazing feats with the right deck.

KH2:
Gameplay is super solid. It will never get old. Definition of a timeless classic.

ReCoded:
Only 2 hours long & largely irrelevant, but the last 30-45mins are worth a watch just for Mickeys letter.

2.8:
Was all new to me. I enjoyed KH 3D after I got past the annoying 'drops'. Flow motion adds a whole new dimension to the gameplay.
0.2 was Fantastic!! Wow. Just a little teaser of what a KH game on next gen consoles should be. It feels slick. Modern. Just beautiful. Aqua=only waifu.
Back Cover was good & it provided some context, but it left me wanting more. So many questions...

It's nice to have all the games on one platform and laid out nicely. Playing them back-to-back definitely answered some of the questions I had & I can see the whole universe more clearly.
KH gets a lot of stick for having a terrible story from more casual gamers, but I think it's excellent. Nomura really is a genius to create such a fleshed out world. He told the story he wanted to tell, it's not his fault that Square put it on different platforms.

12 years after KH2 and my hype for KH3 has never been higher. A real testament to the magic this franchise has. There's nothing like it.

/Long reflection over

Also, it says that it's still coming to Xbox One. I think there was speculation at one time that they were dropping an Xbox version and it would be PS4 exclusive?

@ArkhamKnerd that was just a rumor. I think they cancelled the Xbox one version in Japan which made people think it would be cancelled here.

2018, people!! Apparently next year will be as awesome as this one in terms of gaming releases. Loved Toy Story as a world. I played a lot of Toy Story 2 on PS1, looking at that room in a game again brought nostalgia feelings, haha.

Now I need to play the series again before then, hopefully they'll show up in a digital sale soon.

I recently got the collection for PS4, and good timing too, with III getting a confirmed year.

It's been 10 years since I played KH1, and it shows. I'm so used to how KH2 handles that it feels weird going back to KH1.

I thought the trailer look really freaking good. That is coming from some that isn't even a big KH fan. It helps that I love Toy Story but the game is on my radar now without a doubt.

I started playing these games back in April, a friend had given me KH1.5 as a birthday present but I left it on my backlog for years, till this year I decided to give it a spin. I am not a big JRPG fan but since the combat is not turn based then I slowly learned to love it. Beat 1 and CoM (after nearly rage quitting on each game at some of the boss fights) and I recently beat 358/2 Days and then watched the remastered cinematics. And what did my friend give me for this year's birthday gift? KH2.5!

Very excited with the new trailer. I will possibly be able to beat all the games (bought Re: Coded so I can play everything) in time for 3. Loving the Toy Story setting and how the graphics look.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.
