Welcome to the shack @KALofKRYPTON @Kidfried @Gremio108 @Fight_Sora_Fight @Octane
This is where we'll be delibrating over the rankings for PlayStation 3 games. A tough task for sure but I know we'll get through it.
A bit of housekeeping first.
This is just an introductry post first, the second post will be @themcnoisy rules, the 3rd post will be our first batch of games while the 4th post will be both my thought on these first batch of games as well as how I feel we should structure this so we can come to a decision we can mostly agree on.

With that out of the way, I'll now be playing arse kisser so vomit bags ready.
I was lucky to get you guys on my team due to both me getting in first and the other captains largely sleeping at the wheel at not getting any of you as soon as possible. I wanted you guys cos I've had either plenty of interaction with on here or have read more then enough of your comments to know that collectively we have a pretty decent range of gaming interests and just as importantly are both mature and respectful of others opinions that this should be nothing less then constructive.
I maybe captain but that does not mean my opinion outweighs everyone else's, as far as I'm concerned, my job is just to get topics started on here and annoucing our decisions. Everyone here WILL be heard and respected but then I am preaching to the choir cos I hope you knew this already.
But most of all, let's have fun with it, give ourselves a chance to show off our gaming knowledge and to show others why Push Square's community is one of the best in gaming.

The Rules

1) Take your time no one is under any pressure. If this is too many games please let me know and after this section I can reduce them down.

2) Don't forget you have 3 team vetos and 2 thread wide vetos which can be used if you see a game unfairly marked down after the team captains have posted the final results. This is will maybe irk some people, please don't let it - we all have the same powers!

3) All teams try to have your results in by Sunday, if you can do it before that is absolutely fine as I need to update the database. Again no one is under any pressure to participate as long as we have results off the team captains or other designated vice captains in that team.

4) The whole purpose of this section is to put every retail PS3 games into one of five files. Very Important, Important, Existing, Not Important and Pointless. From there we can then place them in an order far more easily. There isn't any half way houses in between any of these fields so choose wisely!

5) Please weight your choices according to these metrics and in this order; Importance to gaming as of today, Technical achievement, Artistic Merit and Personal opinion. An example I would use here is a game I love called Videoball on PS4. Its not very important today, it had no real technical achievements, its artistic merit was average however a bit different to usual sports games and I rated it highly. That would slide into the Not Important bracket unfortunately, existing at an absolute push if my team felt the same way. I hope that clears it up (go buy Videoball).

6) Good luck, have fun and if we argue that's all good. Please no personal insults we are all big gamers who play a lot of games. We all have different tastes and hopefully this can encourage us to look back at some of the classics in a new light.

Okay gang since we've got until Sunday at the latest I think the first couple of days should be spent actually looking and saying what games we actually played and judging them accordingly. Remember we need to be as subjective as possible in this, personal opinion comes last to Importance, Tech and Art after all. Now when we start I would like if you can list all the games you've either completed or played enough of to form an opinion.
If there's games none of us have played then I think it's best some of us research it to see if we can find a general consenous on it and judge it accordingly.
Once we've all looked at the games and give our opinions we'll vote on them to put them in their respective categories.
If you think you have a better system in mind then please let us know know. Good luck everyone.

Out of that list, I've played the following:

3D Dot Game Heroes

...and that's it! But what a game. I'll post more about it tomorrow when I've got more time. Alpha Protocol is another one that jumps out. My friend played it, said it was good. I don't know what Afro Samurai is, but I like it for the name alone.

@AdamNovice Cheers for the kind words, glad to have you as captain! Now if you'll excuse me I think I've got something in my eye...

Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.

2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa EA Canada: Existing
AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack Harmonix Music Systems: Existing
Alice: Madness Returns Spicy Horse: Unimportant
Aliens: Colonial Marines Gearbox Software: Unimportant
Alien: Isolation Creative Assembly: Very Important
Aliens vs. Predator Rebellion Developments: Unimportant
Alpha Protocol Obsidian Entertainment: Important
The Amazing Spider-Man Beenox: Existing

Are the only games that I've played sadly. Aliens CM I have as Unimportant rather then pointless cos if never else it's an example of how you shouldn't mislead consumers.
Alien Isolation in Very Important cos it set out to look and feel like the first film and pulls it off.
Alpha Protocol in Important as despite it's obvious shortcomings it was very ambitious in what it tried to achieve and I do respect developers that try to be ambitious.

@Gremio108 Flattery will get you anywhere they say lol.
I remember 3D Dot Game heroes, it was an obvious Zelda rip off but since Zelda isn't on Playstation I find that fair game.

@AdamNovice Good work mate! Your next batch should be more memorable lets say. Good luck with the thread.

OK. Of what we have I have played:

007: Quantum of Solace Treyarch
2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil EA Canada
AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack Harmonix Music Systems
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Namco
Aegis of Earth: Protonovus Assault Acquire
Afro Samurai Namco Bandai
Air Conflicts: Pacific Carriers Games Farm
Air Conflicts: Vietnam Games Farm
Alice: Madness Returns Spicy Horse
Alien: Isolation Creative Assembly
Aliens vs. Predator Rebellion Developments
The Amazing Spider-Man Beenox
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Beenox

Of those and the rest of the list, I think the bottom feeders should be pretty easy to weed out.

Alien Isolation is the obvious stand out.
AvP is a cracking example of an old school FPS too.
I'm putting in for TASM2 and Ace Combat: AH as two games that were actually better than fine but are regarded with less than fondness.

Aegis of Earth is actually a very cool game, don't think I've every really played anything else quite like it - but it's mostly just a novel take on tower defense.

Great thread. I only played a handful of games, most of which have already been mentioned (Spidey's, FIFA's Alpha Protocol, Rock Band), and a game no one here has mentioned yet: 50 Cent (don't judge!), which was way more decent than you'd expect.

Oh, and also Afro Samurai, though only for ten minutes in the store. It's based on the anime and features voicework by Samuel L Jackson. It's very much a 6-7-ish game.

Then there are a few I 'know of', but not ever played myself. Those are Afrika and Alone in the Dark. They're both... not really good. But at least the concept of Afrika is cool, photographing animals.

I think Alien Isolation is an easy vote, right?

I'll sort through the rest later today or tomorrow. I'm not familiar with all of them, but I figure a trailer or two should tell me enough.

@AdamNovice Great thread, this is a lot easier to manage! I will chime in, in the evening of most days.

So, 3D Dot Game Heroes. I loved that game, and my eldest son is actually replaying it at the moment. It's a tribute to Zelda where you adventure across different lands and through increasingly tricky temples to defeat some baddie I can't remember. It's great fun and the writing is a highlight, with lots of in-jokes and references to the various quirks of adventure games, as well as a whole load of nods to other From Software games such as Demon's Souls and Armoured Core (it was published by From in Japan). One hidden room contains a bunch of games developers working away on a new game, which they feel they've made too difficult.

With all that said, I'm struggling to put it into any higher category than Existing. It's a 'tribute', to the extent that it plays exactly the same as Zelda. It doesn't bring anything new to the table in terms of gameplay.

You could make an argument for its artistic merit, since its art style is so distinctive and the idea of a king who decided 2D is outdated and so makes his kingdom 3D is quite unique. Also the repeated send-ups of gaming tropes are interesting. Personally I'd place it at the high end of the 'Existing' category.

Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.

Ok maybe I missed something and I don't feel nor have the time to go through pages and pages of text but what is with all these team ---- threads popping up all of a sudden? We have three threads now for them is it necessary to have three separate threads? I am not complaining just trying to figure out why we need three separate threads. I don't want to shut any of them down so I just figured I ask.

@Tasuki It's part of @themcnoisy idea of ranking every PS3 game. Last week me and 17 others all got grouped up into teams. Each team is given a huge batch of games that we nominate into their respective rankings. Problem was when we did a trial run on the original thread it got too messy in keeping up what each of our team members were saying. So I and others came up with the idea that each team can have their own thread to discuss the games and vote etc. That way it becomes more managable. Of course it's an open forum so nothing is stopping any one of us commenting on another thread but we just felt this was the best way for each team to work.

@Fight_Sora_Fight Team vetos are if you don't agree with a decision on your team after it's locked in (this may happen rarely) . Thread wide vetos are in case you see another team take a game and put it in the wrong pile.
I forgot to say last night but I would like @KalofKrypton to be my Vice Captain. If at any point I'm not able to get involved then I want you to take over...if you wish. Though I doubt there will be a time where I won't be taking part, but I'll let you know in advance.

@Tasuki It's just so the three teams aren't talking over one another. Go to page 8 of the 'All 1442 Playstation 3 Games Need Rating' thread and try to follow the conversation, you'll see what I mean
