Topic: PS3 Slim BD Drive not loading ejecting?

Yesterday i switched on my PS3 to play a game. There was no blue light at the eject button so i tried to put a game disc in the slot but it was obvious there was a game still in there so when i pressed the eject button nothing was happening, just the usual three beeps to suggest there was no game inside.I managed to get the disc out of the drive using the screwdriver into the HDD cover hole trick which went smoothly tbh.

The drive recognises that a game is being inserted as when the console is on standby and i put a disc into the slot it switches the console on but there is no motor noises so it will not pull in the disc.

I have tried the disc half in the slot on standby and pressing the on button but had no joy.

I have tried the BD drive reset by holding down the eject button for around 15-30 seconds but it does nothing.

On the fat PS3 BD drive there was a sensor under the slot that recognised when a disc was inserted but i don't think the slim has that feature and instead uses three push type sensors connected to the drive motor.

Has anyone had a similar problem like this on a PS3 slim (CECH - 2003b) drive?

I was going to purchase a new motor/sensor assembly but don't want to waste money if that's not the issue. I was also going to buy a second hand BD drive but i have read that i would need to change over the board from the one in my console due to it maybe having a different firmware version and if my board is the problem then i am back at square one after wasting money chasing a problem.

I would really like to fix the console i have if i can for a reasonable price considering the prices of a second hand one being around the £50 mark nowadays.

Any ideas what the problem can be?
