Top 10 Hidden Gems for the PS3

Are there any games you feel didnt get the proper respect that they deserve. Here is my top ten list of PS3 games that not many people are talking about.

#10
Singularity

If you are looking for something like Bioshock this is your game. Singularity is by all means a hidden Gem. Overshadowed by the latest Call of Duty at the time this game has heart. I really enjoyed the time machine bending mechanic which allows the player to go change between the past and present and even use time as a weapon. The game is fairly linear and can be a bit repetative but it makes up for it in gameplay. This game is by no means perfect but it is a great ride.

#9
Legendary

Legendary is a weird game. The premise is your typical end of the shooter with werewolves and griffons. The game is like a weird mix of Halo and Van Helsing. There are tons of mythical creatures to mow down. This game wont win any awards for injinuity but it is very entertaining.

#8
Naughty Bear Gold Edition

This is a fun little sandbox game where the whole premice of the game is to kill the happy teddy bears as fast and as greuesome as you can.

#7
Xmen Origins Wolverine
This game surprised me. I did not graphic as it is. Xmen Origins is a movie game that actually turned out to be good. The gameplay is fairly Linear but you wont fnid another Wolverine Game where he is chopping off heads with helecopter blades.
As a added bonus you can even play in the iconic Yellow and blue suit!
#6.
Stranglehold Collector's Edition
Stranglehold Is a third person action shooter that has you play in the shoes of John Woo. The Game does a great job at making you feel like a total badd ass with slow motion dives and slow motion bullets
#5.
Puppeteer for PlayStation 3
#4
The art style in this game is amazing. Too bad it did not get the audience it deserved. As a indie Developer I love to see games that are not only fun to play but visually are amazing to look at.
You plays as a puppet who weilds magical scissors to get his head back. Puppeteer is a great platformer with tons of hidden areas and places to explore.
Give this game a shot its definitly worth your time.
#4
The Saboteur
I sank tons of hours playing through Nazi filled france attempting to Liberate it and bring color back to the world. That wasnt a play on words you literally bring color back into the world. The Nazi occupied areas are like jumping into an old black and white movie. Essentially this is Grand theft auto with Nazis.

#3
Beowulf
OKAy this one was kind of a stretch, but I must admit i enjoyed playing it. Essentially a God of War clone with Beowulf. The games has a morality mechanic that didnt really play out all too well but the action and cool creature design is cool to see. I feel this game had potential. If not for some clumsy platforming and being kind of a short game Beowulf deserves a try.

#2
3d Dot Heroes
Essentially Legend of Zelda for the Playstation with updated graphics. You can update your sword and swipe the entire screen of monsters Whats cool about this games is that you can create your own character. I have seen people recreate Link and other really cool pixel art characters like ninjas and even Crash Bandicoot.

#1
Hydrophobia

The number one spot has to go to Hydrophobia. Hydrophobia is a survival horror game that takes things in a different direction. Instead of zombies,Nazis or demons, Hydrophobia uses water as the main scare. Hydrophobia places you in a sinking ship with an evil corporation trying to kill you every step of the way.

Honorable mentions

The fight
Pixeljunk Shooter.
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
Mark of the Ninja
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West ( love this game- but I have seen many people put it on their lists I wanted to mention it but add add different games that people may not had hear of)
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

What games do you think deserve another chance?

I agree about Saboteur. Multiple plays, purchased month of release. Been to the top of the Eiffel Tower, shot down over a hundred dirigibles, and turned black and white to color. Any chance of dlc, Sabotuer 2, and other games like Mercenaries 3 ended with the closing of Pandemic.

The other games listed i have not played however i will add one to your list. The game is The Godfather The Don's Edition.

The GFDE is and hd update of the PS2 Godfather game. There is also a small amount of features and content added. This game is nothing like the horrible Godfather 2 game.

GFDE is like playing the first Godfather movie. The likeness of the real characters is excellent and some of the voice acting is done by the actors in the movie. Robert Duvall, Marlon Brando, James Caan, ect. There is a character creator and clothing options. Cheat codes controller activated help with money and ammo. Marlon, freaking, Brando!

KALofKRYPTON

I would add The Fight: Lights Out.

As with a lot of Move games, it was either overlooked or poorly reviewed due to the abject laziness of the reviewer. It was a great game that needed some effort put in to it, but very rewarding.

@KALofKRYPTON Ill have to give The fight a chance- I have seen it loads of times but never made the leap to try it out.

I have not played the Godfather on the PS3- I played it on the xbox and ps2. Have you played it on any of the previous consoles? Is there a difference?

I wouldn't mind replaying this game. I really enjoyed it on the older consoles. I felt like they could have done more for the game. My favorite part was upgrading the weapons and taking over compounds.

Thank you for commenting.

@Revan117 It's well worth it. Once your fighter has levelled a bit - the control really starts to feel 1-1. They should've had it that way from the start really - but it is a good time.

Thrillho

@Revan117 I had mixed feelings about Puppeteer. The style was fantastic as it was played out on a literal stage with scene changes and an audience who gasped, cheered, booed etc. The changing heads mechanism worked well but used the slightly annoying tactic of making you revisit levels with heads you got later on to open up more secrets.

The biggest annoyance though was that you probably spent as much time watching scenes play out as you did actually playing the game. I wish I'd just been able to play it more!

Thrillho

Revan117

@Thrillho Love the Simpsons reference.
The game did have alot of changes in scenery.
I really enjoyed the different environments and challenges each new scene provided.
I see your point though. Some of the senses did change the pace of the game. Most of the games listed are fairly cheap- Puppeteer is $7.99 at Gamestop

No list of this type is complete without mentioning Enslaved: Odyssey to the West.

Such a shame we never got that sequel.

I just recently purchased that. I have not played it yet but I hear great things. Apparently there is a Conan O'brien easter egg in the game.

Heh, I got The Saboteur when it was first released, really enjoyed the hell out of it back then. Even had that naughty DLC that came with it. I tried to play it semi-recently though, and it's starting to show it's age for sure. Controls are wonky for me. It's really sad though that Pandemic Games went under after this, they could have still been making wonders to this very day.

For me, a hidden gem would be Strangehold. It's a sequel to the movie Hardboiled. Definitely very arcadey and dated, but its' good fun if you can find it for like $10.

I also found Tron Evolution to be a great game back in the day. Showing it's age now though, and multiplayer is gone.

Even the rocks do not recall.

I enjoyed Time Crisis Raging Storm, especially the Deadstorm Pirates game that came with it. Still fun without a move controller too. Also I liked Binary Domain, played it on 360 but I'm assuming the PS3 version is the same.
