Topic: Fallout New Vegas updates missing

I was going to give away my PS3 to a relative and decided to install and update all my games before giving it away. When I came to Fallout New Vegas the console said it already was the latest version, even though it was clearly version 1.0. I tried updating several times with no change.

I tested the download tool for rpcs3 (https://www.reddit.com/r/rpcs3/comments/g4zv1x/i_created_a_tool_for_downloading_ps3_game_updates/) and checked for my version, BLES00901, and it came up with nothing. If I searched for BLES00902, the French version I think, the update to 1.7 was found.

Has anyone else seen updates for specific versions of games just disappear? I couldn’t find anything about it when googling.

@Pizzadude357 That's an odd one. I've never encountered this issue before, but then Sony have been slowly shutting down and / or removing random features from its older architecture. Very occasionally over the past couple years, I've purchased a physical PS3 game and installed it expecting to find an update, only for none to be present. Some of these were de-listed titles, though, so it'd make sense that Sony would clear some server space if they expected them to be gone for good.

Sorry if this isn't a particularly helpful reply, but Sony can't support the PS3 forever. You might've just been unlucky and stumbled across the first sign of the console's ultimate demise.

I found it to be really strange, since all the DLC is still present and downloadable on the PSN store. If I download one of them the game doesn’t recognize that I have it, since it isn’t updated.

And the updates for the other versions are still present, if Sony were doing some cleaning, one would imagine they would remove the updates for all the versions.

Oh well, guess I’ll never get a concrete answer to this, neither Sony nor Bethesda would respond to questions, I presume. 😊

Today i put NV into my PS3 slim, clicked to start the game, and was notified of V 1.7. I installed that update, the game, 1 dlc, Honest Hearts, and it all worked. The game data has it as V 1.7 and i got the ingame message about the dlc.

Sony can pull games and dlc from the store but patches and updates i believe to be only from the internet. When i downloaded the V 1.7 update i was not connected to PSN, but was connected to the internet.

Is NV the only game you have that will not update? Is the latest PS3 firmware installed ? Do the regions match?

What is the exact variant of your NV copy? I’m guessing it’s not BLES00901. 😊

All other updates, as far as I can tell, gets downloaded as they should. And I have had the NV updates years ago, when I played it with all the DLC, so I know the updates existed at one point.

Exactly, like I said it is just BLES00901 that seem to be missing the updates. Other variants still seem to have the updates accessible on PSN, which I thought was strange. 😊

You may consider a copy of New Vegas Ultimate edition that includes all dlc and probably the last update 1.7. Ultimate was released in Feb 2012 while 1.7 was released September 2011.

If you ever play unpatched buy an Old Cowboy hat at Mick and Ralph's store in Freeside. Wear that hat when entering or exiting the Strip to avoid possible crashing or an infinite loading screen. That issue was fixed with an early patch.
