Topic: So is there a limit to the number of files available for Cloud Save?

New update guys, my Valhalla save is saved thanks to Ubisoft linking accounts system!
Sadly Persona 5 is gone and I will not restart that game! Many other games like Hades and Iki Island expansion I will have to start fresh after 3 or so hours of progress...

So anyway, as I'm still very confused as to why my PS5 didn't synch the saves to the cloud like it should, I was doing a research and someone mentioned there is a 100gb limit (and I was aware of that) but also a 1000 files limit. So I have like 80gb or more left of space in the cloud but I don't know, I am suspecting I might have more than 1000 save files. Could this be what made my console not update most of the saves and ultimately made me lose progress in so many of my games on PS5? Is there really a 1000 save limit?

@AFCC I’ve not heard of the file save limit. If it’s true, is a ridiculous concept. That means a person will never get to the 100 GB limit unless their save files are 100 MB each, which sounds like a lot.

I’m wondering if your issue may have been your ISP. Like some kind of setting or firewall that turned off the autouploads. So long as your PS5 settings have been enabled for auto syncing (I assume this is the first thing you checked), then maybe it is the 1000 file limit. Have you tried lately and seeing if it’s auto-synced now? If it still doesn’t have the same file date and time in the console storage and cloud storage, then will it let you manually upload any of the console save files?

Let us know what you find out. If there is a 1000 file limit then I’ll likely need to keep an eye out too because I’ve got a bunch of junk from Vita games, PS3, PS4, and now PS5 games all in that cloud.

I haven’t even checked before since I’m so far away from the 100GB limit, but is there a way to access and delete PS3 and Vita files off the cloud without using a PS3 or Vita? I have the old consoles still, but rarely ever boot them up and I know the next time I have to use my PS3 it will take years to do all the updates.

@Th3solution Hi. I think it really might be a 1000 file limit. The PS5 has auto synch and I've tested multiple times and Psychonauts save is still the save I manually uploaded 3 days ago. I tested rest mode even, and it simply doesn't upload.
I deleted 180 save files and will see if it helps, but I am thinking of putting all PS4 saves on a USB pen and delete all files from PS Plus.

@AFCC Thanks for the update. I’m curious if deleting those files fixes your issue. It’s good to know that you can still manually back the saves up to the cloud, but it has to be annoying to do that all the time.

@Th3solution it really is and the problem is that I might forget and (let's pray it doesn't happen) if for some reason my console dies again I lose all saves again!
Deleting the 180 files didn't seem to help, I still manually upload Psychonauts 2 save today! I might buy a pen then and try to delete all PS4 saves

@AFCC So out of curiosity, when you go into PS5 setting —> Saved Data and Game/App settings —> Saved Data (PS5) —> Sync Saved Data —> View Sync Status, does it show that any of your games are synced? (I mean without your having done it manually.)
Just wondering if the console thinks it’s auto-syncing but it’s actually not.

@AFCC Hmmm… so the console is reporting that it’s syncing but it isn’t actually making a cloud save. Sounds like a weird console problem. Are you going to contact customer service and see if they can work it out or are you just going to do manual back ups from now on?

@Th3solution costumer service won't probably help much right now! I will buy a USB pen and delete ALL PS4 saves after I transfer them to the pen! Then I will see what happens
