I don't know why the PS4 doesn't do this. On the ps3, if you watch a movie, say on netflix, the receiver will switch from all channel stereo to 5.1 dolby or dts or whatever sound the movie is using. But the ps4 doesn't switch. If I have it set to all channel stereo so I can watch youtube, and then switch to play a surround sound game or movie, the receiver STAYS at all channel stereo and doesn't switch to one of the surround modes.
