Topic: Help I can't connect my PS4 to my phones hotspot

So I live in Australia where the internet is basically garbage and to get around this I usually connect my iPhone hotspot and pay for an unlimited data plan. On 4g it gets decent speeds, much better than the wifi we have anyway.

About 48 hours ago I tried to connect the hotspot like usual and it either will not connect within the time limit or says Cannot connect to a Wi-Fi network. Wi-Fi signal strength may be too weak. The day before the hotspots were working perfectly fine, and there weren't any updates on either device as far as I know. If i set up the connection manually it will say the internet settings have been updated and the hotspot icon will appear in the corner of the phones screen, but this lasts a couple of seconds before it disappears and the Playstation still says I am not connected to a wifi network.

The strange part is my brother does the exact same thing one room over and his stopped working on the exact same day. We tried the other phones in the house, all iPhones, and none of them will connect either. These other phones have been used to hotspot before if one of ours was broken and they use to work just as well.

I should note that at first the phones would not connect to any other devices like laptops, but after I reset all settings on my phone it now connects to most things except the PS4.

I have tried basically every bit of troubleshooting that can be found on the internet and have talked to people at Sony, my phone provider, Apple and none of them can explain or offer help to what is going on. I have reset PS4 settings and factory reset my phone but nothing has worked. My brother even completely initialised his playstation but even then the issue persisted.

I think that it might be an issue with the Playstation as the hotspot works for laptops now after I reset the settings, however it didn't at first and seems weird that all the phones failed in the exact same way but their mobile internet works in every other way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, we live somewhere that means a hotspot is the only way to properly use our PS4's and I'm so bored without it.

This really doesn't sound like a 'problem' with the PlayStation - but perhaps there are some lingering settings that's preventing the system from recognising the previous hotspot.
Are you able to rename/change the SSID for the hotspot?

@KALofKRYPTON yes I am able to change the SSID. Still the same though

@KALofKRYPTON Just as an update, android hotspots work fine but iPhones do not, all on the same cell carrier

@convict22-- seems like it really has to be an iOS issue then 🤔

@KALofKRYPTON yeh 100% is, can't get anything out of them though, best i get is told to wait for the new update
