Sony Aim To Unify The PSN Between A Range Of Their Products.

You may not relate to it instantly, but Sony are an absolutely gigantic company. They're a record label, a movie licensing and production house, an electronics producer, a video game publisher, a hardware manufacturer, a mobile phone company. For years now Sony's assets have competed internally as opposed to using their strengths to create a much more cohesive company.

When you really think about it, Sony could really kick some ass if they efficiently played to their strengths. That's something CEO Howard Stringer wants to achieve, and one such way he intends to achieve this is by a universal PSN. A unified PSN would allow Sony products to "talk to each other efficiently," think about the way you log into the PSN via your PSP and then imagine such things carried over to your mobile phone and digital camera. It would make it so much easier to deal with photographs, TV shows and games between a range of Sony products. Synergy means brand loyalty. And brand loyalty means money.

Fortune are reporting that the universal PSN will start to roll out in Spring next year. Sony intend to slowly and carefully roll out the service, something we think is an excellent idea as opposed to rushing things. Get it right first time rather than spend ages fixing things.
